PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The driver accused of rear-ending, then running over a motorcyclist and causing him serious injuries in a Gresham hit and run from two years ago has been identified by police. Salomon Martinez Gonzalez, 35, was allegedly involved in the crash on New Year's Eve 2023. Gresham police said he was driving a red Chevy Sonic when . The victim was in the hospital for over a month, recovering from being in 'critical condition,' officials said. Gresham police have now released a video of the crash, which appears to be dashcam footage from the point of view of another car. The video shows a truck bouncing over something on a darkened road, only to reveal a figure lying in the middle of the street in the aftermath. Police said the video shows the victim's wife rushing to aid her spouse after the crash. Councilor Smith criticizes proposed homeless budget Police said they identified Gonzalez as the suspect driver because they found a liquor store receipt in the suspect vehicle. They identified Gonzalez as someone who appeared in the liquor store's surveillance video making a purchase. Armed carjacking investigation leads to 3 arrests in Gresham, 4th suspect at large

PORTLAND, Ore. () — A carjacking investigation that began in Gresham and spilled over into Portland led to the arrest of three people — including two juveniles — with a fourth suspect still at large, authorities said. At around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Gresham Police Department said they responded to reports of a carjacking at gunpoint near Southeast 185th and Southeast Stark Street in the Rockwood Neighborhood. Four suspects fled the scene in the victim's car,' Gresham police said. The vehicle was later spotted by a Multnomah County Sheriff's deputy, who attempted to stop them, but the driver took off toward I-84. The Portland Police Bureau later took over the investigation since the stolen car entered their jurisdiction. The car was later found abandoned near Northeast 19th Avenue and Northeast Pacific Street. 'All four suspects ran across I-84. A passing motorist reported seeing the suspects carrying handguns as they ran toward the Lloyd Center exit,' Gresham police said. Three of the four suspects were later located following a search of the surrounding area of the car by Gresham police, Portland police and the sheriff's office. There was also evidence collected from the robbery, officials said. Drunk Portland woman driving stolen car struck rock off roadway, killing passenger, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland woman was arrested on March 3 after allegedly crashing a stolen car, killing the passenger in her vehicle. Selena Brust, 27, was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail and charged with DUII, unlawful use of a vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and second-degree manslaughter. Police say the crash took place just before 5 a.m. on Hwy 26 near milepost 44 in Clackamas County. 'The (car) left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a rock before rolling off the northern side of the roadway. The vehicle had been reported as stolen prior to the collision to the Gresham Police Department,' OSP said. Beaverton man, Nathan Bergstrom, 45, was declared dead at the scene.
