Actor settles with Disney over firing from Mandalorian
Actor Gina Carano has settled her federal lawsuit against Lucasfilm and its parent company Walt Disney over her claim she was fired from The Mandalorian for expressing right-wing views on social media. The specific terms of the agreement were not made available. "Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect," Lucasfilm said in a statement. "With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms Carano in the near future." The two sides stipulated in a federal court filing on Thursday that the case should be dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. A judge still needs to formally dismiss it. The case had been scheduled to go to trial in Los Angeles in February 2026. The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in California last year, alleged Carano was wrongfully terminated from the "Star Wars" galaxy Disney+ series in 2021 after two seasons due to a post likening the treatment of American conservatives to the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany. Her posts were widely criticised online and spurred a trending #FireGinaCarano hashtag. "I'd like to thank you all for your unrelenting support throughout my life and career, you've been the heartbeat that has kept my story alive. I hope to make you proud," Carano wrote in a statement on Thursday. "I am excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me." Carano thanked Elon Musk for helping fund the lawsuit "and asking for nothing in return". The suit had alleged that the 43-year-old actor was fired because she "dared voice her own opinions" against an "online bully mob who demanded her compliance with their extreme progressive ideology". Carano is a former mixed martial artist who played the recurring character Cara Dune on the show, which launched in 2019 and ran for three seasons. A feature film starring Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, The Mandalorian and Grogu, is set for release next northen summer. Carano had previously been criticised for mocking mask-wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic and making false allegations of voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election. The Mandalorian Season 4: Latest updates on renewal status and everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on July 14, 2025, 19:30 IST Last updated July 14, 2025, 13:48 IST Hey, fellow bounty hunters! If you're as obsessed with The Mandalorian as I am, you're probably itching for news about Season 4. The adventures of Din Djarin and his adorable sidekick, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), have kept us glued to Disney+ since 2019. But with a new movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu , set to hit theatres in 2026, what's the deal with Season 4? Is it happening, or are we headed to the big screen instead? Let's break down the latest updates and everything we know so far. Is The Mandalorian Season 4 Happening? The short answer? It's complicated. Back in February 2023, show creator Jon Favreau confirmed he'd already written scripts for Season 4, saying, 'We have to know where we're going to tell a fully formed story.' Pre-production was reportedly underway, and Din Djarin's body double, Brendan Wayne, even teased, 'See ya next season!' That got fans hyped for more small-screen adventures. But then, in January 2024, Lucasfilm dropped a bombshell: a feature film, The Mandalorian & Grogu , is coming to theaters on May 22, 2026, directed by Favreau himself. This announcement left fans wondering if the movie would replace Season 4. Reports from The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024 suggested Disney might be pivoting to the film instead, especially after the 2023 Hollywood strikes disrupted production plans. However, there's hope yet! A December 2024 report from The InSneider claimed Season 4 is still 'in development' at Disney+, though the movie will come first. This aligns with earlier posts on X suggesting the show could lead into the film, possibly as a six-episode season. So, while nothing's officially confirmed, it seems Season 4 isn't entirely off the table—it might just be delayed or reimagined. For now, Lucasfilm is keeping things hush-hush (classic move), so we'll likely get clarity closer to the movie's release. Our guess? If The Mandalorian & Grogu is a box office hit, it could pave the way for more seasons or sequel films. Either way, Din and Grogu aren't done adventuring yet! When Will Season 4 Release? Since Season 4 hasn't been officially greenlit, there's no confirmed release date. Originally, fans speculated a late 2024 or early 2025 premiere, based on the show's typical production timeline (Season 3 took about a year from filming to release). But the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes threw a wrench in those plans, and the focus on The Mandalorian & Grogu has pushed things back. If Season 4 does happen, filming would likely start after the movie wraps production, which is already underway as of mid-2025. Assuming a similar post-production timeline, we're looking at a potential release in late 2026 or 2027—possibly August or September, following the pattern of previous seasons. But with Ahsoka Season 2 and Andor Season 2 also on Disney's slate, it could be even later. For now, mark your calendars for The Mandalorian & Grogu on May 22, 2026, and keep your fingers crossed for Season 4 news after that! Could THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU Be the Start of a New STAR WARS Trilogy? — GeekTyrant
Lucasfilm may be quietly teeing up a brand new Star Wars trilogy. According to a recent update from trusted industry scooper Daniel Richtman, The Mandalorian & Grogu may serve as the launching point for a fresh trilogy in the Star Wars universe. Richtman claims, 'Lucasfilm reportedly plans to make The Mandalorian & Grogu the first installment in a potential trilogy.' That said, this isn't a done deal. Richtman adds that Lucasfilm's decision 'depends on how well the film does.' In other words, if The Mandalorian & Grogu sticks the landing at the box office, it could pave the way for two more films. If it flounders, it might end up being a one-off. This echoes earlier reports from last year from Making Star Wars saying, '…It's a trilogy if the first one connects. If the first one [ The Mandalorian and Grogu ] is a big film, they'll make two more. If the first one doesn't and makes Indiana Jones [ and the Dial of Destiny ] money, then they'll just do the two [already announced] and wash their hands of it.' Interestingly , The Mandalorian & Grogu was originally conceived as the fourth season of The Mandalorian TV series, but it eventually evolved into a theatrical feature. Now it's shaping up to be much more than a series finale, it could very well be the beginning of something bigger. Adding to the speculation, Richtman also claims the Rey-centric Star Wars film has been 'put on hold once again.' If that's accurate, it creates a major opening in Lucasfilm's timeline, allowing them to prioritize other projects, potentially this Mandalorian -led trilogy. Of course, as with all things Star Wars lately, everything is still very fluid. Plans change. Projects shift. Nothing is truly locked until Lucasfilm drops an official announcement. But the idea of Din Djarin and Grogu being the backbone of a new cinematic era? That's a move a lot of fans could get behind—if the movie delivers. For now, we'll be keeping our eyes on May 2026.

Star Wars actor Temuera Morrison questions Boba Fett's absence from franchise
Morrison recalled speaking with two key creative leaders in the franchise, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention in Tokyo in April. While their reunion was described as heartwarming, Morrison said the pair were tight-lipped about whether he or Boba Fett would reappear in any future instalments, which he likened to being preserved like a jar of fruit in the pantry at grandma's home. Temuera Morrison in the Disney+ Star Wars spin-off The Book of Boba Fett. 'It made me feel like ... I'm one of those peaches, and I've been put up on the shelf. I've been preserved for a later date, and I'm going to be tastier.' In a separate interview with Nerd Reactor, Morrison revealed he wasn't approached for The Mandalorian and Grogu, an upcoming film slated for release in May 2026 that serves as a continuation of The Mandalorian. 'I'd be more excited if I was in the movie,' Morrison said. 'Oh, I shouldn't have ruined it for you ... No one called me. I'm still sort of waiting for the phone call.' However, he praised LucasFilm for allowing him to return to Star Wars in the first place. 'Look, I'm just blessed that I had the opportunity there to come back. 'How many people in their career play Jango Fett, and then 20-30 years later get called to play the clone son, Boba Fett?' Photo / LucasFilm Morrison has spent more than 20 years working in Star Wars - the fourth-highest-grossing franchise globally which includes films, TV shows, video games and books. In his most expansive Star Wars role yet, Morrison played the titular character in the Disney+ spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett. With seven episodes released between December 2021 and February 2022, negative reactions to the show's storyline and character development from both fans and critics alike appeared to have prompted LucasFilm to pause work on it. The production company, owned by Walt Disney Studios since 2012, has since turned its attention to projects that have resonated better with its devoted audience. Morrison first starred as Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones (2002), and has subsequently appeared as Boba Fett in various Star Wars films, television series and video games. He often provides the voice for the clone troopers across various media too. Morrison has continued to make small contributions to the franchise since 2022 with minor voice roles across successive shows, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, in 2023. 'The Mandalorian' rumor suggests season 4 won't be happening — but the force is still strong with the movie
This is the (movie) way — at least, according to a new report. It's been over two years since 'The Mandalorian' wrapped up its third season, and with no official word on season 4 since, fans have begun to wonder if the galaxy far, far away has quietly left the show behind. Now, a new rumor suggests those suspicions may not be far off. According to a claim by insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon, 'The Mandalorian' won't return to Disney Plus for a fourth season. Instead, the story of Din Djarin and Grogu will remain on the big screen for the foreseeable, beginning with the upcoming movie 'The Mandalorian & Grogu.' To be clear, Disney and Lucasfilm haven't officially confirmed any of this so take it with a grain of salt. But given the long silence, shifting priorities at Disney, and the spotlight now shining fully on the theatrical project, it's getting harder to imagine season 4 ever materializing. It's a surprising shift for a show widely regarded as one of the best projects in the 'Star Wars' universe. The show not only helped restore fan excitement after a divisive sequel trilogy, but it also catapulted Pedro Pascal to a new level of fame for his role as the helmeted bounty hunter. While season 3 drew more mixed reactions, many held out hope for a proper continuation. But with shifting strategies at Disney and Lucasfilm, the future of 'The Mandalorian' may now rest solely on its theatrical debut. With 'The Mandalorian' season 4 looking less and less likely, all attention has shifted to the upcoming feature movie set to continue the adventures of Din Djarin and his beloved foundling. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. While official story details for 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' remain under wraps, the movie is expected to pick up where season 3 left off, acting as a bridge between the Disney Plus series and the broader cinematic plans being crafted by Lucasfilm's creative head, Dave Filoni. 'The Mandalorian' season 3 concluded with Din (Pascal), the adorable Grogu, and Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) leading a united Mandalorian front to finally defeat Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his lingering Imperial forces. Their victory allowed Bo-Katan to reclaim Mandalore and begin the long process of restoring her homeworld. In the aftermath, Din struck a deal with the New Republic to help hunt down other remnants of the shattered Empire. That mission naturally puts him on a collision course with a much larger threat teased in 'Ahsoka': the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn. With Thrawn potentially preparing a full-scale assault on the vulnerable New Republic, Din and Grogu may soon find themselves pulled into a galactic conflict. And with Filoni's crossover 'event' movie still years away, it appears 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' is set to serve as the crucial link between the beloved streaming series and the escalating war looming on the horizon. Richtman also mentioned on his Patreon that the stakes for the movie are incredibly high. He claimed that 'if the movie succeeds, a sequel will be made. However, if it flops, it will serve as the final chapter for Mando and could also put [Dave] Filoni's movie at risk.' Jon Favreau, creator and executive producer of the series, recently reinforced this shift in focus. At this year's Star Wars Celebration in Japan, he told Collider that his attention is fully on the movie, not a potential fourth season. 'Right now, I'm focusing on the feature,' Favreau said. 'You discover so much as you edit a film… Right now we're really locked in on the big screen story that's coming.' I've absolutely adored every step of Mando and Grogu's journey. I've even built up a little collection of Grogu toys and posters as a reminder of just how much this duo means to me. So, I truly hope 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' becomes a huge success, not just for fans like me, but for the future of 'Star Wars' storytelling as a whole. Season 4 hasn't been entirely ruled out yet, but since theatrical releases tend to bring in a lot more revenue, I'm fairly certain 'The Mandalorian' will remain on the big screen. Looks like Din and Grogu might be trading their beskar for box office bling!
