The Redhill Valleys among local winners at CMAOntario Awards
Hamilton-grown musicians, a band and a radio station took home CMAOntario awards Sunday. Three-member band the Redhill Valleys won 'Group or Duo of the Year,' Ancaster's Mackenzie Leigh Meyer won 'Roots Artist or Group of the Year,' Waterdown's Josh Ross won the 'Compass Award' and KX94.7, Hamilton's country station, won 'Radio Station of the Year.' The win was a first for the Redhill Valleys. 'Winning Group of the Year in our hometown makes this moment extra special,' said Chelsea McWilliams, the bass player and singer. 'Hamilton has a rich, resilient music scene, and we're proud to be part of a community that keeps showing up, creating, and lifting each other up. It's a win for all the local bands out there making noise.' The CMAOntario Awards and Festival was Sunday at several venues across Hamilton, including the Textile Building and the Music Hall. The 13th annual awards show was the last to be hosted by Canadian country star Jason McCoy. McCoy announced 20 winners at the show, which ended off a weekend of workshops, intimate performances and open mics. Country singer-songwriter Owen Riegling won the most awards, taking home five trophies. Riegling is from Mildmay, Ont., a small town about 150 kilometres northwest of Hamilton, past Elmira, Ont. The show featured performances from country singers such as Andrew Hyatt, Sacha, Nate Haller and Robyn Ottolini. The Redhill Valleys also performed. McCoy was also honoured with the first Real McCoy Award, sponsored by Slaight Music. The award will honour an individual who represents the compassion, integrity and commitment to the craft of Ontario's country music community. This year's Billboard Women in Music took over the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, Calif., on Saturday (March 29), and it was the ultimate celebration of the brightest stars in the industry. Artist honorees at this year's star-studded event included Doechii, receiving the Woman of the Year Award, as well as aespa (Group of the Year), Ángela Aguilar (Breakthrough Award), Erykah Badu (Icon Award), GloRilla (Powerhouse Award), Gracie Abrams (Songwriter of the Year), JENNIE (Global Force Award), Megan Moroney (Rulebreaker Award presented by Crown Royal Whisky), Meghan Trainor (Hitmaker Award), Muni Long (Rising Star Award Presented by Honda Stage) and Tyla (Impact Award presented by Bose). 'This is our motherf–king night to rightfully come together to acknowledge each other, support each other and to celebrate,' she said during her powerful speech. 'We are the creators, we are the executives, we are the innovators who are just as central to this industry as the men. Clock it.' Tina Knowles, mother to Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, also accepted the inaugural presentation of the Mother of the Year honor. This year's presenters included Becky G, Kali Chis, Madison Beer, Julia Michaels, Lauren Jauregui, Mickey Guyton, Suki Waterhouse, Summer Walker, Tanner Adell, Victoria Monét and Zara Larsson. Doechii named Billboard's 2025 Woman of the Year
March 10 (UPI) -- Grammy-winning rapper Doechii was named Billboard's 2025 Woman of the Year on Monday. She will be presented with the honor at a ceremony March 29 at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, Calif. Laverne Cox will host the event, which is to stream live on Vizio WatchFree+ at 10 p.m. EDT. Other artists who will be honored during the gala include aespa (Group of the Year); Ángela Aguilar (Breakthrough Award); Erykah Badu (Icon Award); GloRilla (Powerhouse Award); Gracie Abrams (Songwriter of the Year); JENNIE (Global Force Award); Megan Moroney (Rulebreaker Award); Meghan Trainor (Hitmaker Award); Muni Long (Rising Star Award) and Tyla (Impact Award).

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Old Dominion is bringing their 'How Good Is That' World Tour to CMAC this summer! The multi-Platinum-selling band has nine number one singles at country radio, surpassed five billion on-demand streams, and has earned over a dozen RIAA Platinum and Gold single certifications. The group is also the reigning 7-time ACM and 6-time CMA 'Group of the Year'. On July 19, doors for the event are scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. performance time.
