Top wheat producers get tractors
Under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's "Grow More Wheat — Free Green Tractor and Cash Prize Scheme," four farmers from Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, and Kallar Syedan have been awarded free green tractors, while three others received significant cash prizes. Farmers who cultivated more than 12.5 acres of wheat were selected through an e-ballot. Recipients included Muhammad Zahoor from Kahuta, Sohail Nawaz and Waqar ul Hassan Kayani from Gujar Khan, and Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen from Rawalpindi. Cash prizes were awarded based on wheat yield: Raja Faisal Mehmood from Kahuta received Rs1 million for producing 48 mounds (approx. 1.92 tons) of wheat; Malik Abrar Ahmed from Kallar Syedan received Rs0.8 million for 40 mounds; and Waqas Ahmed from Kallar Syedan received Rs0.5 million for 38 mounds. The awards were distributed by Member of National Assembly Malik Abrar Ahmed, Punjab Assembly members Raja Sagheer Ahmed and Raja Muhammad Hanif, and Director of Agriculture Syed Shahid Iftikhar Bukhari. MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed stated, "Although we were elected on the symbol of the lion, our leadership emphasizes merit and transparency. The distribution of tractors worth Rs2.7 million each and cash prizes is a testament to the hardworking farmers and the merit-based policy of CM Maryam Nawaz." Director of Agriculture Shahid Iftikhar Bukhari shared that so far, 526 tractors have been distributed across Rawalpindi Division.

Punjab launches green tractor distribution scheme under wheat initiative
LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday launched the distribution of green tractors scheme among successful farmers selected through balloting under Chief Minister Punjab's 'Grow More Wheat' initiative in Okara district. Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani was the chief guest at the ceremony where keys were handed over to 26 farmers from the district. The government aims to distribute around 1,000 tractors under this scheme. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said free tractors are being provided to farmers across Punjab through a transparent e-balloting system. He noted that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is taking revolutionary steps for the growth and advancement of the agriculture sector. He emphasized that the current government has allocated a record Rs 123 billion for agriculture in the budget; a significant increase from the previous allocation of Rs 20 billion. For the first time in history, green tractors have been distributed to 10,000 farmers with a subsidy of Rs 1 million per unit. Additionally, interest-free loans worth Rs 75 billion have been issued to farmers through Kisan Cards. On the occasion, MPA Mian Muhammad Munir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ibrahim Arbab, PML-N leader Rao Muhammad Ajmal, Director Agriculture Extension Shahbaz Akhtar, Deputy Director Agriculture Muhammad Ijaz, along with a large number of Agriculture Department officials and farmers, were present. Farmers start receiving tractors under wheat support programme
LAHORE: The Punjab government has started distributing green tractors among farmers under its wheat support programme to encourage wheat cultivation across the province. A total of 1,000 tractors are being handed over through a transparent balloting process. Speaking at a distribution ceremony held in Multan as part of the 'Grow More Wheat' campaign, Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said the Chief Minister of Punjab has introduced a landmark Rs27 billion package to promote wheat farming and increase production. As part of the wheat production competition, farmers at the provincial level will receive an 85-horsepower tractor for the first prize, a 75-horsepower tractor for second, and a 60-horsepower tractor for third. At the district level, the first prize is Rs1 million, second prize Rs0.8 million, and third prize Rs0.5 million. Under this initiative, farmers with wheat crops on 1 to 12.5 acres are receiving a subsidy of Rs5,000 per acre. The minister added that in the Multan Division, 109 farmers are being given tractors under the campaign. He also noted that in the first phase of the Green Tractors Programme, 9,500 farmers had already received tractors. In the second phase, 20,000 more tractors will be distributed. Meanwhile, Phase 2 of the Chief Minister Punjab Kisan Card scheme is offering interest-free loans worth Rs100 billion. The maximum loan limit has been raised to Rs300,000, and landholding eligibility increased to 25 acres. Farmers can withdraw 30% of the loan in cash, while 20% is reserved for diesel. To support the scheme, 4,000 registered dealers and over 700 PSO fuel stations have been included in the network. The ceremony was also addressed by Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo.
