U.S. threatens to revoke Delta-Aeromexico antitrust immunity, Bloomberg says
The Trump administration is threatening to revoke antitrust immunity for the pricing agreement between Delta Air Lines (DAL) and Grupo Aeromexico amid new orders demanding Mexico to address anticompetitive behavior, with a show cause order arguing it no longer 'serves the public interest,' Michael O'Boyle of Bloomberg reports. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy issued an order requiring Mexican airlines to file schedules with U.S. authorities and seek approval for large charter flights. 'Let these actions serve as a warning to any country who thinks it can take advantage of the US,' Duffy said in the statement. The Trump administration is threatening to revoke antitrust immunity for Delta Air Lines Inc. and Grupo Aeromexico's pricing agreement amid a set of new orders demanding Mexico move forward to address anticompetitive behavior. Mexican airlines will now be required to file schedules with US authorities and seek approval for large charter flights, according to an order issued by US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Saturday. An additional show cause order proposes withdrawing antitrust immunity for the Delta-Aeromexico joint venture, since it no longer 'serves the public interest.'

MEXICO CITY, July 08, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grupo Aeromexico S.A.B. de C.V. ('Aeromexico') reports its June 2025 operational results: Grupo Aeromexico transported 2 million and 33 thousand passengers in June 2025, a 4.2% year-over-year decrease. International passengers increased by 1.2%, while domestic passengers decreased by 6.9%. Aeromexico's total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASKs), increased by 0.8% year-over-year. International ASKs increased by 6.0%, while domestic capacity decreased by 9.7% year-over-year. Demand, measured in passenger-kilometers (RPKs), decreased by 0.5% year-over-year. International demand increased by 3.1%, while domestic demand decreased by 8.3%, both figures compared to June 2024. Aeromexico's June 2025 load factor was 85.7%, a 1.0 p.p. decrease as compared to June 2024. International load factor decreased by 2.4 p.p. and domestic load factor increased by 1.4 p.p.
