2 injured in crash involving light pole on Battleground Avenue in Greensboro, EMS says
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Two people were injured in a crash involving a light pole early Saturday morning, according to Guilford County EMS. At 3:24 a.m., all lanes of Battleground Avenue between Grecade Street and West Wendover Avenue were closed due to the crash and following investigation. According to a Duke Energy employee, a driver struck a light pole, causing the power line and attached traffic lights to collapse. One of the traffic lights appears to be destroyed. According to EMS, one person in the crash suffered minor injuries, and another suffered 'serious injuries but not specifically life-threatening.' As of 11 a.m., Duke Energy crews have left the scene, and the City of Greensboro is using wire cutters to manage the damaged transformer and handling cleanup efforts. This is a developing story. Greensboro woman dies after car goes off I-40 East on-ramp, hits tree, police say
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman died on Tuesday after a car she was driving crashed into a tree off the I-40 East on-ramp, according to a Greensboro Police Department news release. Around 12:14 a.m., Greensboro officers, Greensboro firefighters and Guilford County EMS responded to the on-ramp of I-40 East from West Wendover Avenue when they were told about a vehicle that had crashed. Erica Trenise Caviness, 38, of Greensboro, was driving a silver Nissan Sentra on the on-ramp of I-40 East when her car ran off the right side of the road. The car then went down an embankment and hit a tree. Caviness was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she died. 1 stabbed in Interactive Resource Center parking lot; suspect at-large, Greensboro police say
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Greensboro police are searching for a stabbing suspect after a man was injured Thursday morning. According to a press release from the Greensboro Police Department, at 10:27 a.m., police and Guilford County EMS responded to a stabbing in the parking lot of the Interactive Resource Center, located at 407 E. Washington Street. A male victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition. Police are searching for a female suspect who fled the scene as a passenger in a car. A warrant has been issued for her arrest on an assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury charge. The investigation is ongoing. Reported shooting involving drivers of tractor-trailers on I-85 South sends 1 to hospital, Greensboro police say
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — One person was taken to the hospital after a reported shooting on Interstate-85 South, according to a Greensboro Police Department news release. Around 1:44 p.m. today, Greensboro officers, Greensboro firefighters and Guilford County EMS were sent to a reported shooting on I-85 South near mile marker 131. The incident involved drivers of two tractor-trailers, police say. One victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing. Winston-Salem man dies after being thrown from truck during crash on US 29, police say
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A Winston-Salem man died on Wednesday after a truck he was driving went off the road and hit a guardrail, according to a Greensboro Police Department news release. Around 6:29 p.m., Greensboro officers, Greensboro firefighters and Guilford County EMS responded to 6096 US 29 South about a crash with injuries. Dashaun Rodrick Sheff, 29, of Winston-Salem, was driving a Chevrolet Avalanche south on US 29 when his vehicle ran off the road and hit a guardrail on the right shoulder. Sheff was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle into the road. He was in critical condition when he was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.
