Fee committee fines four schools Rs 5 lakh each for unapproved pre-primary fees

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad zonal fee regulatory committee imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on four private schools for collecting pre-primary fees without obtaining mandatory approval. The action was taken after the schools were found charging unapproved and excessive fees for their pre-primary sections. The penalised schools include James Genesis International School (Vaishnodevi Circle), Shiv Ashish Juniors (Bopal), New Tulip International School (Bopal), and Vedant International School (Isanpur). The committee earlier issued notices to these schools and called them for a personal hearing. Following the hearings, the committee concluded that all four schools violated the norms by not obtaining prior fee approval for their pre-primary sections, as required under the Gujarat Self-Financed School (Regulation of Fees) Act.
