GTU forms panel to probe errors in diploma semester-2 exam

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) formed a five-member committee to probe substantial errors in the diploma semester-2 mechanical engineering examination. The problems occurred in the Applied Mathematics exam conducted on May 29, creating confusion among nearly 25,000 students from more than 120 colleges across the state. During the examination, which ran from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm, corrections were issued around 1.10 pm. Many students completed and submitted their papers before the corrections were announced. Despite a 30-minute extension being granted, numerous institutions failed to receive the information in time. This situation resulted in student demonstrations and appeals for grace marks. The university formed a committee including the Dean of Diploma Faculty, two Board of Studies members, and two subject specialists. During their Thursday meeting, the committee's assessment revealed errors in multiple questions, specifically two questions worth 3 marks each and three questions worth 4 marks each. Consequently, they suggested awarding between 14 and 18 grace marks to the affected students. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 울산에서 임플란트 할때 '59만원' 혜택 받아가세요! 울산심플치과 더 알아보기 The committee also recommended punitive measures against the paper setter, who is a faculty member at a govt polytechnic. The punishment includes withholding three years' worth of exam remuneration and a two-year ban from examination responsibilities. The committee advised the university to report the incident to the education commissioner's office. This is not the first instance of examination-related chaos this year. GTU earlier faced criticism during the Mechanical Drafting paper due to late corrections. The university is now under pressure to ensure transparency and prevent such lapses in future examinations. Errors in GTU diploma exam leads to chaos among students

Ahmedabad: At Gujarat Technological University (GTU), diploma engineering Semester 2 students faced unexpected complications during their applied mathematics exam. Students received notification about 6-7 incorrect questions moments before the exam was to conclude. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The students were provided replacement questions at the last moment, creating considerable confusion. The examination was scheduled from 10.30 am to 1 pm across various GTU-affiliated diploma engineering institutions. Students alleged that approximately 10 minutes before the examination ended, colleges announced multiple erroneous questions and distributed revised ones. While some institutions allowed additional time to address these alterations, others maintained the original schedule. Several institutions implemented corrections while the examination was in progress, causing additional disturbance. Students voiced their concerns to the authorities regarding the sudden modifications, claiming that they impacted their performance. They stated that such errors occurred previously during GTU examinations. Students have demanded accountability and stricter measures to ensure such issues do not reoccur, as these mistakes were causing undue stress.

DDCET provisional answer key released, 35 students submit objections

Ahmedabad: Just weeks after 19,391 diploma engineering students (96% of registered candidates) appeared for the diploma to degree common entrance test (DDCET) on April 19, the process of finalising results is underway. Following the release of the provisional answer key, around 35 students have raised objections. Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will now review these suggestions, with the final answer key and results anticipated in the first week of May. Following the exam, the admission committee released the provisional answer key. Students who had objections or suggestions regarding the provided answers were instructed to submit them by April 24. Sources indicate that approximately 35 students submitted objections, claiming errors or discrepancies in some of the answers or options listed. Last year, a similar situation arose, and before the final results were declared, the committee awarded additional marks to students based on valid objections. This year, the suggestions submitted by students will soon be presented before the authorities of Gujarat Technological University (GTU), which conducted the exam. If the objections are found to be valid and corrections are necessary, the final answer key and results are expected to be announced in the first week of May. The authorities will also disclose the number of accepted objections at that time. It is noteworthy that while approximately 46,000 seats are available, only 19,391 students appeared for the entrance test this year. Once the results are declared, the schedule for the admission process will be announced accordingly.
