Porsha Williams Paid Simon Guobadia's Child Support And More Amid ICE Detainment
Porsha Williams has seemingly stepped up to support her ex-husband, Simon Guobadia, after he was detained by ICE. In newly-surfaced court audio, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star confirmed that she paid his child support and other household expenses. 'Yes, I paid his child support for his two sons. I also paid maintenance for the house— outside of utilities,' said Williams. When asked by a judge why she chose to do so, Williams explained, 'I really got concerned, being that Simon was still detained […] I'm still married to him at the end of the day, and I just really felt it was unfortunate that they weren't getting any help. The mother had reached out to my assistant and said she was concerned. When I spoke to her, she made me aware that it had not been paid, I paid [his child support].' The couple's divorce was recently finalized. She filed after just over a year of marriage and asked the court to enforce the terms of their prenup. Guobadia tried to contest said terms, which included monthly alimony, division of property, and legal cost coverage. A judge sided with Williams and he's since been deported to Nigeria. After being detained, Guobadia spoke highly about the Trump administration to US Weekly. 'Donny, like I refer to him, we are very similar. We're both Geminis, and some of his antics— I certainly can understand it. Sometimes [I would] say that we are misunderstood.' He noted, 'I don't have any animosity towards the situation. I don't have any problems with Donald Trump like any other CEO or chief executive, who I am. We look to hire the best people we can find. And the issues that he's dealing with are no different than any other organization. I feel that I have a very unique perspective on this situation, considering that I was there for as long as I was. And there are so many things that I saw that I feel that I can help the administration with.' Guobadia currently has no plans to 'fight' to get back into America, but if offered, he would return. Porsha Williams Recreates ‘Waiting To Exhale' Scene After Finalizing Divorce From Simon Guobadia
Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia's divorce has been finalized, with the Real Housewives Of Atlanta star taking her to story to People, where she recreated an iconic Angela Bassett scene from Waiting To Exhale. Williams spoke to the mag about her 'nightmare' of a divorce and how much she can now relate to the 'message of rage and resilience' found within the scene, where Bernadine, played by Bassett, piles her soon-to-be ex-husbands suits into his car and sets it ablaze in reaction to his deceit and betrayal. 'I didn't expect today to be emotional,' Williams, 44, said on-set. 'But the moment I sat down at that vanity and started brushing my hair, just like Angela in the movie . . . it hit me: I've prettied up the ugly in my life too, when it wasn't so pretty. And I'm done doing that.' Williams and Guobadia's divorce was finalized on June 11 in Georgia. Guobadia appeared in court via Zoom, as he was deported to Nigeria from the U.S. for bank and credit card fraud. 'You go through different stages,' the reality star shared. 'You have that anger. You have the moment where you have to fight for your life in a court situation. And then, toward the end, you have the clarity where you realize you are still blessed. Your family is by our side, your child is protected; there's a whole new life that you can start.' Williams went on to saying being a 'hopeless romantic' led her and Simon to connect so quickly, as they announced their engagement just one month after confirming their relationship. 'And Simon matched my energy,' she added. 'He's very warm. He loved spending time with me. We were freakin' extra. If we wanted to fly out of the country every weekend or post on Instagram together about how much we loved each other, he was down.' However, 'complex' issues with his legal status soon led to problems the mother of one couldn't ignore. She claims she knew things were 'headed down a dark road,' and hired an immigration attorney in January 2024. 'We had a real serious conversation because, being a supportive wife, I wanted to deal with this head-on,' said Williams. 'I got it spelled out completely by an attorney who had been in immigration for 30 years. And my conclusion was: 'I don't want you to travel.' I begged for him not to leave the country. That was not honored.' Williams calls the 'point of no return' a confrontation between the two of them on Valentine's Day. 'There was some paperwork that needed to be handled, and I wanted to bring in some attorneys to represent me, and that was frowned upon,' she revealed. 'And it wasn't really what he said, it was a look—a look that just felt dark. I just knew I was not looking at the same person I loved before. I could tell that he was just pretty much checked out of the relationship at that point.' She filed for divorce eight days later. Porsha Williams' journey with ex-husband Simon Guobadia has been nothing short of a rollercoaster but things just got even crazier. Allegedly, Guobadia has been subject to President Donald Trump's crusade to mass deport undocumented immigrants. Guobadia has reportedly been detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to TMZ. The report says he's being held at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Ga. in ICE custody. The philanthropist is originally from Nigeria, where he and Williams had arguably thee wedding of the year back in November 2022. However, the two divorced in 2024 after they got into a disagreement over their prenup. Williams was able to win temporary sole possession of their marital residence, according to PEOPLE. However, Guobadia fired back with a defamation suit demanding $75,000 after Williams dragged him on Instagram for alleged erectile dysfunction. ICE detainment is only the latest L Guobadia has taken, though, it appears to be warranted considering previous his struggle to gain U.S. citizenship. The Source reports he originally overstayed his visa back in 1982. He later reentered the country on a work visa but overstayed again. Then, in 1992, the report says he was deported but came back again under an alias, finessing himself into permanent residency.
