The initiative aims to establish such shops (angadi) within various gram panchayat limits. On a pilot basis, the Shirva and Katapadi gram panchayats in Kaup taluk were identified as models. Shops were constructed in these two panchayats under the name 'Akka Sanjeevini Angadi' with the aim of introducing products made by the Sanjeevini self-help groups to the public. Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty recently inaugurated the newly built shops in Shirva and Katapadi. Speaking on the occasion, he said that women today are not limited to household duties, but are stepping out as entrepreneurs. With women now representing all fields, society is gradually transitioning from being male-dominated to female-led. Women are emerging as community leaders, not just household heads, through the Sanjeevini initiative. He wished success to all women entrepreneurs and expressed hope that similar Akka Sanjeevini outlets would be launched in more locations. With the implementation of various novel programmes, the district has become a model for the state.

Platinum jubilee celebrations of Karnataka Public School at Hiriyadka from April 27
The platinum (75 years) jubilee celebrations of the Karnataka Public School at Hiriyadka in Udupi district will be inaugurated on April 27, according to Kuyilady Suresh Nayak, president of the platinum jubilee celebrations committee of the school. On April 25, he told presspersons in Udupi that the celebrations will go on till January 2026. Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty will inaugurate the year-long celebrations. The school caters to students from nearby villages and has 1,800 students. The school records good results every academic year. The school had started as 'Hiriyadka Board High School' in 1950. It was upgraded as a pre-university college in 1975. The State Government declared it as a Karnataka Public School in 2019-20, he said. Mr. Nayak said the celebrations will bring together alumni, students and teachers. The celebrations will highlight the school's journey from humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of education in Hiriyadka. Manjunath Bhat, principal of the school, said that the faculty have a commitment to impart holistic education. The school has adopted both Kannada and English as the medium of instruction. Former vice-chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and senior cardiologist B. M. Hegde, agricultural economist N. S. Shetty and IAS officer H. Rajesh Prasad are among the alumni of the school, the principal said. Former Chief Election Commissioner late T. N. Seshan was the chief guest at the golden jubilee celebrations of the school. The school has planned to take up development of infrastructure at an estimated cost of ₹1 crore, which will be raised through philanthropists. Udupi district has nine Karnataka Public Schools.
