She made her acting debut in the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam. After this, she ventured into Tamil cinema with the 2011 film Aadukalam. Her foray into Hindi cinema came with David Dhawan's 2013 comedy Chashme Baddoor.
Over the years, Taapsee has established herself as a powerhouse performer with an impressive filmography. Most recently, she impressed audiences with Khel Khel Mein in 2024, leaving fans in awe of her talent.

Taapsee is a qualified software engineer with a degree in Computer Science from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi. During her final year, she and her two friends developed an app called FontSwap, which allowed iPhone users to change fonts.
The actress achieved a high score of 88% in the Common Admission Test (CAT) for MBA programs before choosing to pursue a career in modelling and acting. Her education also includes schooling at Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar, Delhi.

Pink (2016): Pink addresses the issue of consent, particularly in relation to women's rights in Indian society. Set in New Delhi, the film features Amitabh Bachchan as Deepak Sehgal, a retired lawyer who takes on the case of three young women accused of a crime. Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, and Andrea Tariang play the three women, Minal Arora, Falak Ali, and Andrea Tariang, respectively.
Badla (2019): The film centres around Naina Sethi (Taapsee Pannu), a successful businesswoman who is accused of murdering her lover, Arjun (Tony Luke). She hires renowned defence attorney Badal Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan) to represent her. The majority of the plot unfolds as a conversation between Badal and Naina, where she recounts the events leading up to the murder in an attempt to build her defence.
Saand Ki Aankh (2019): Saand Ki Aankh is based on the lives of Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, two elderly sharpshooters from Uttar Pradesh, India. The film showcases their inspiring journey of defying age and societal norms to achieve remarkable success in the sport of shooting, earning them the nickname 'Shooter Dadis" (shooting grandmothers). Taapsee Pannu plays Prakashi Tomar in the movie.
Mulk (2018): Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film explores the sensitive themes of religious prejudice, Islamophobia, and the challenges faced by minority communities in India. The story revolves around a Muslim family living in Varanasi, India, whose lives are thrown into disarray when one of their sons is implicated in a terrorist attack.
Thappad (2020): The film follows Taapsee's character Amrita, a homemaker whose life is upended when her husband slaps her at a party. The action forces her to confront the disrespect she's tolerated in her marriage. Refusing to reconcile, Amrita decides to file for divorce, sparking a journey of self-discovery. Her decision challenges patriarchal norms within her family and community, leading to a transformative path.

Taapsee Pannu will next be seen in the revenge drama, Gandhari. From intense fight sequences to adrenaline-pumping stunts, the film is expected to present her in a gritty, fierce, and dynamic role, continuing her streak of breaking stereotypes. Directed by Devashish Makhija, Gandhari will also star Ishwak Singh in a key role. The film will be released on Netflix later this year.
