The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) division at Central Sanskrit University, has introduced the Setubandha Scholarship Scheme -- a major initiative to support Gurukul-educated students in transitioning into formal postgraduate and doctoral research in top institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).The initiative offers monthly scholarships and academic mentorship, and is considered a major step in mainstreaming Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).advertisementUP TO RS 2 LAKH SCHOLARSHIPS FOR IKS SCHOLARSSelected scholars will receive monthly scholarships starting from Rs 40,000, with postgraduate students eligible for up to Rs 1 lakh and PhD candidates for up to Rs 2 lakh.'This scheme will serve as a bridge between the ancient Gurukul tradition and modern research,' said Professor Srinivasa Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University. 'It will provide recognition to traditional scholars and unlock new paths for academic innovation.'ELIGIBILITY AND DEADLINE Applicants must be under 32 years of age, with a minimum of five years of study under a traditional Guru or Gurukul system. No formal degree is required, but candidates must demonstrate proven excellence in classical knowledge.
