Trans officer's alleged rape victim so young she liked teddies, court told
A transgender volunteer police officer allegedly told his victim he wanted to rape her despite her being 'so young' she was still interested teddy bears, a court has heard. Amersham Law Courts heard that James Bubb, who now identifies as a woman named Gwyn Samuels but will be referred to by his biological sex throughout the trial, was violent towards the complainant when taking her virginity while in her early teens. In a police interview played to the court on Tuesday, the alleged victim told officers that at the age of 12, the defendant, who was 21, looked 'paranoid' when the pair were out in public together. The complainant met Bubb on Omegle, a video-chat site for strangers, in 2018. She spoke of how she was 'frozen' when the now-27-year-old defendant attempted to engage in sexual activity in public shortly before her 13th birthday. She reportedly told the defendant she was five years older than she actually was when they first met, but insisted he knew she was underage. The complainant told police of their first in-person meeting at a Christian festival where Bubb, who was working as a volunteer steward at the time, made remarks about going into her tent and having sex with her. She spoke of how the pair met up away from other festival-goers and said her colour-coded child wristband was clearly on show. 'I remember being scared' The alleged victim said: 'He was really paranoid, looking around constantly. We were in a relationship in my eyes but I was being hidden whenever we were in public. 'He made remarks in person about when it was dark… about coming into my tent and having sex with me. 'I was actually so young at that point that I had a teddy bear in my tent. He knew at the time that I was very much interested in things like teddies.' Addressing how she felt when the defendant spoke of going into her tent, she continued: 'I said I wasn't comfortable with that… and I believe he sent me a text on Snapchat at that point and he said he was probably going to come into my tent either way – maybe while I was sleeping. 'I remember being scared that night.' The complainant went on to speak about how when the pair started having sex, Bubb was violent. She said: 'He had his hands around my throat. I tried to get words out but they weren't coming out as easily.' She told the officer that sometimes the defendant was 'hitting me during sex… sometimes he would punch me'. 'He would also make remarks about raping me,' she added. 'He told me I enjoyed being raped and when I said no, he didn't stop and that's when he made these specific remarks.' The defendant has denied one count of rape in relation to one complainant and two counts of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of rape of a child under 13 and one count of assault by penetration in relation to the other complainant. All charges are alleged to have taken place between Jan 1 2018 to April 2 2024. The defendant, of High Street, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, denies all charges.

Met Police volunteer accused of grooming and raping child after meeting online
A Met Police volunteer officer groomed a child and raped her after meeting her online, a court heard. Prosecutors said the 27-year-old, who was born a man named James Bubb but now identifies as a woman named Gwyn Samuels, asked one alleged victim to perform a sex act in public when she was 12 years old. The court heard the defendant was later forced to hurriedly pull their trousers up after a dog walker went past while the alleged victim performed the sex act. The alleged victim said in a statement to police she did not realise at the time that she was 'being groomed', prosecutor Richard Milne said. According to the first alleged victim, at the age of 13, 14 or 15, the pair met up where her virginity was taken by the defendant and she was choked so she could not speak. Mr Milne told the court the defendant and the alleged victims would be referred to by their biological sex throughout the trial when discussing the allegations. Amersham Law Courts heard that the defendant met the first alleged victim, a 12-year-old, in person at a Christian festival while working there as a steward, and told her they were in a relationship, despite her wearing a 'bracelet pass' for a child. In his opening to the jury on Monday, Mr Milne said the first alleged victim met the defendant on a website called Omegle. The court heard their communications became sexual around a month after first meeting online, with the alleged victim describing their relationship as a 'trauma bond'. After taking the first alleged victim's virginity, the defendant had sex with her on a number of occasions, the court heard. Mr Milne said: 'He would tell (the first alleged victim) that they enjoyed being raped, to which (they) replied no. 'The Crown says this defendant befriended and sexually assaulted (the first complainant) just before her 13th birthday.' He added that the defendant had sexual encounters with her when she was 13 to 15 years old, and then, after a gap, the prosecution says the defendant raped her when she was about 18 years of age. The defendant was arrested on April 30 2024, their flat was searched and officers described it as 'extremely messy and dirty'. The defendant told police in a prepared statement when being interviewed that 'he'd never had any non-consensual sex or act with (the first complainant)', then made no comment to questions, the prosecution said. The prosecution told the court the likely defences will be that no sexual activity took place in relation to the one complainant when she was under age, and in relation to the charges alleged to have taken place when the same complainant was over 16, that the sex was consensual. The second complainant met the defendant on Omegle when she was 18-years-old, the court heard. She said she and the defendant were 're-enacting a rape' and explained she would say no or stop and that was the signal. Mr Milne said: 'Even though they were re-enacting a rape, it meant James needed to stop. 'During the course of sexual intercourse she said she had said no and stop and he had simply carried on.' The defendant used 'officer training techniques' on the complainant, she said in her statement. Mr Milne said: 'He'd perform these on her without seeking her permission, when she was in these holds he'd start touching her sexually.' The defendant has denied one count of rape in relation to one complainant, and two counts of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of rape of a child under 13 and one count of assault by penetration in relation to the other complainant. All charges are alleged to have taken place between January 1 2018 to April 2 2024. The defendant, of High Street, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, denies all charges. The trial continues.

Transgender Met Police volunteer ‘raped two young girls after grooming them online and told one 'you enjoyed it'‘
A TRANSGENDER Met Police volunteer raped two young girls after grooming them online and told one "you enjoyed it", a court heard. James Bubb, 27, asked one alleged victim to perform a sex act in public when she was just 12, jurors heard. 1 Amersham Law Courts heard Bubb was born male but now identifies as a woman and is called Gwyn Samuels. Prosecutor Richard Milne said he would be referred to by his biological sex throughout the trial when discussing the allegations. Jurors heard Bubb first began speaking to the 12-year-old girl on a website called Omegle before they met in person at a Christian festival. Bubb allegedly told the girl they were in a relationship, despite her wearing a "bracelet pass" for a child. Their communications became sexual around a month after first meeting online, with the alleged victim describing their relationship as a 'trauma bond', it was said. Bubb is accused of taking the girl's virginity and choking her so she could not speak. Mr Milne said: "He would tell [the first alleged victim] that they enjoyed being raped, to which [they] replied no. 'The Crown says this defendant befriended and sexually assaulted [the complainant] just before her 13th birthday.' The court heard on one occasion, he forced her to perform a sex act in public. Bubb was forced to hurriedly pull up his trousers "in a panic" when a dog walker went past, it was said. The jurors heard he had sexual encounters with the girl when she was 13 to 15 years old. During these occasions, Bubb would allegedly "choke, punch and hit" her. After a gap, the prosecution says the defendant raped her when she was about 18 years of age. The court was told Bubb met the second complainant on Omegle when she was 18-years-old. She claimed the pair were "re-enacting a rape" but explained she would say no, which would be the signal to stop. But Mr Milne said: "During the course of sexual intercourse she said she had said no and stop and he had simply carried on." The girl also accused volunteer cop Bubb of using "officer training techniques" on her to restrain her without permission. Following his arrest in April last year, the defendant told police"he'd never had any non-consensual sex or act with (the first complainant)". The prosecution said he will likely claim no sexual activity took place in relation to the one complainant when she was under age. Jurors heard his defence will also say that in relation to the charges alleged to have taken place when the same complainant was over 16, the sex was consensual. Bubb has pleaded not guilty to one count of rape in relation to one complainant. He also denies two counts of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of rape of a child under 13 and one count of assault by penetration in relation to the other complainant. All charges are alleged to have taken place between January 1, 2018, to April 2, 2024. The trial continues.
