Police release pictures of suspected Macclesfield killer's clothes
A woman who died from injuries to her head and neck has been named by police as detectives release images of clothing believed to have been worn by her suspected killer. Gwyneth Carter, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene on Pearson Street in Macclesfield, Cheshire, at 18:50 BST on 18 July.A 49-year-old man, who was known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been detained under the Mental Health ActCheshire Police have urged anyone who saw a man wearing the pictured clothing between 12 and 20 July to come forward.
The suspect is believed to have arrived in Macclesfield on or around 12 July and remained in the area until his arrest on 20 might have been sleeping rough in the area during this time, police Insp Eli Atkinson said: "I'd urge anyone who thinks they may have seen a man in Macclesfield between 12 and 20 July wearing the pictured clothing, or anyone who has seen any of the clothing discarded in the area to contact police."The same goes for anyone who has any information on how the suspect may have obtained the clothing."We are also appealing to anyone who may be aware of an area being used for rough sleeping during these time frames to get in touch."
