Ti-Ahwaga Community Players presenting ‘Gypsy'

OWEGO, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A show considered 'one of the greatest American musicals of all time' is coming to Owego this weekend. Ti-Ahwaga Community Players is presenting Gypsy. Gypsy tells the story of the world's most famous burlesque performer, Gypsy Lee Rose. It follows her rise to stardom as well as the role her sister and mother played in her success. Zach Curtis is directing the show. He says the musical has a perfect plot and composition. Curtis says golden age musicals such as Gypsy paved the way for a lot of modern Broadway hits. 'It's just such an iconic show. I think people who says 'Oh, I've never heard of it' or 'I don't really know it' would actually be surprised by how many songs in the show they actually know, they've just never realized that they know them. I think the storytelling is so compelling that this show really stands the test of time,' said Curtis. Gypsy opens on Friday and will run through April 13. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 on Sundays. Tickets are $33 general admission, $28 for students and seniors. To purchase, click here.
