K-pop cover dance festival coming to Calgary
H1-KEY, a Korean K-pop group, will be the special guests June 15 at the K-pop cover dance festival at the Jubilee in Calgary.
Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCCC) is bringing one of South Korea's most popular exports to Calgary for a K-pop cover dance festival on June 15 at the Southern Jubilee Auditorium.
That will be the night when 12 Canadian K-pop cover dance teams, which have been chosen from a first round of online submissions, will compete onstage at the Jubilee Auditorium to be named the national champion.
The winning team will represent Canada in a global cover dance competition in Korea, where they will compete against cover dance teams from around the world.
According to a spokesperson from KCCC, Calgary will be represented by at least four teams, with other competitors coming from Ottawa, Vancouver, Waterloo, Montreal, Toronto (2) and Saskatoon.
One other team is from Alberta, they said, but it's not clear whether they're from Edmonton or Calgary.
The festival will also feature a performance by Korean girl group H1-KEY, who had a hit in 2023 called 'Rose Blossom.'
The members of H1-KEY will also serve as part of the judging panel.
Tickets -- which are free apart from a $3.50 Ticketmaster fee -- are available here.
