Galway Festival day six: Betting tips, odds, and race rundown

WE are entering the home stretch of the 2025 Galway Festival, and what a ride we have been on so far. Stamina has been tested on and off the course, and punters will be raring to go over the final two days. The Listed Boylesports Handicap Hurdle is the highlight of the day, but is supported by some highly competitive action. 🏇 Quick Galway Festival day six tips Win singles and each way bets with odds from the 2:02 BoyleSports Best Odds Guaranteed Maiden Hurdle: Harry's Legacy (e/w) 2:37 BoyleSports Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle: Last Kingdom 3:12 Listed BoyleSports Handicap Hurdle: Teed Up 3:52 Salthill Hotel Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race: Barra Rua 4:27 Whiriskey Refrigeration Irish EBF Maiden: Action 5:00 Bathshack Maiden: Stay In The Game 5:35 Ardilaun Hotel Handicap: Dragon Of Malta 6:05 McDonogh Captial Investments Handicap: Luker's Tipple 2:02 BoyleSports Best Odds Guaranteed Maiden Hurdle (4yo+) - 2m1f Willie Mullins has won this race three times, and he is represented by the hurdling newcomer Night Moon. An eight-length winner on the flat on his final start for David Maranane, the son of Sea The Stars is with the right man to make a success of his jumping career. He is going to be popular in the market, and if he takes well to hurdling, he will be bang there. Figaruso is another who comes in here after a win on the flat. He was a winner of a Tramore claimer, and now, in the care of Gavin Cromwell, he brings some hurling experience to the table. He would have a chance if the switch of yard prompts improvement. However, HARRY'S LEGACY , who ran a massive race on the flat here on Wednesday, is given another chance over hurdles here. He was running well since the turn of the year over hurdles, bumping into the likes of Honesty Policy, Redemption Day, and Joueur Masque. You have to forgive him for his below-par run in Cork last month, but if he can run to the form he showed previously, he is in with a big shout here. 2024 Winner: Jackfinbar J : Danny Mullins T : Willie Mullins Odds : 11/4Fav Our pick: HARRY'S LEGACY Trainer: Ross O'Sullivan Jockey: Darragh O'Keeffe Form: 320-20 Age: 7 Weight: 11st 12lb ➡️ 2:37 BoyleSports Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) - 2m1f Messerschmitt won his maiden hurdle here in October, and that form took a boost with the fourth Bacchanalian going on to win a four-year-old Grade 3. He was last seen finishing fifth in a four-year-old Grade 2 at Fairyhouse, and with Jack Kennedy booked to take the ride, a big performance is expected. Autumn Twist comes in here after winning his maiden and novice hurdle, and with confidence sky high, it will be interesting to see how he lies in the market on handicap debut. A Law Of Her Own is back on the same mark that saw her win over course and distance in 2023, and she comes in here with some decent form over fences. She chased home the Galway Plate second Jesse Evans here in September, and if she can show that form back over the smaller obstacles, she can go well. The four-year-old LAST KINGDOM has been getting the hang of things over hurdles, and even though he was turned over as the odds-on favourite at Ballinrobe, he should be more than capable of winning off his current mark. This track looks sure to suit him with the stiff run in looking right up his street. 2024 Winner: Volantis J : Keith Donoghue T : Ross O'Sullivan Odds : 4/1Fav Our pick: LAST KINGDOM Trainer: Willie Mullins Jockey: Mark Walsh Form: 771-22 Age: 4 Weight: 11st 5lb ➡️ 3:12 Listed BoyleSports Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) - 2m6½f Chart Topper went on a tour of the UK as Willie Mullins went in search of the UK trainers' championship and came away with one win from three runs. He returned to Ireland, where he took sixth place at this level at the Punchestown Festival. Even though he is not the choice of Paul Townend, the son of Walk In The Park, is feared. Paul Townend is on the so far disappointing Maughreen, and she needs a drastic turnaround in form to be competitive here. At a price, Mousey Brown can run well after showing a sign that a return to form may be just around the corner after staying on third at Uttoxeter. However, a chance is taken that TEED UP can back up his win on the flat here on Wednesday back over hurdles. He clipped heels in the drip and was lucky not to come down, but somehow he managed to gather himself and run down the well back Shoda in the shadows of the post. That was a huge effort, but given that he backed up a head second with a win back here in 2023, shows that he more than capable of making it back-to-back wins at his beloved Galway under seven pound claimer, Conor Clarke. 2024 Winner: The Wallpark J: Sam Ewing T: Gordon Elliott Odds: 14/1 Our pick: TEED UP Trainer: Emmet Mullins Jockey: Conor Clarke (7lb) Form: 1/1/0- Age: 8 Weight: 10st 13lb ➡️ 3:52 Salthill Hotel Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race (4yo+) - 2m1f Willie Mullins has won four of the last five runnings of this race and comes here with Some Pretender looking to add her name to the list of winners. She looks set to be sent off the favourite, and may well take a lot of beating. However, the twice-raced BARRA RUA can go well here. She was second on debut and followed that with a fourth in a ladies' rides bumper at Roscommon. She wasn't given the best of rides that day, and now with John Gleeson back on board, this daughter of Camelot can make good use of her experience. She has been staying on well in the closing stages of her races, and the stiff nature of Galway looks set to suit. Pimlico Racing unleash the point-to-point runner-up Something Fabulous. John McConnell seems to think a bit of her, and whatever she does here, expect to see a big improvement next time out. 2024 Winner: Cameletta Vega J: Patrick Mullins T: Willie Mullins Odds: 8/11Fav Our pick: BARRA RUA Trainer: Emmer Mullins Jockey: Mr J L Gleeson Form: 24 Age: 5 Weight: 11st 11lb ➡️ 4:27 Whiriskey Refrigeration Irish EBF Maiden (2yo) - 1m½f This should revolve around Aidan O'Brien's ACTION . The son of Frankel ran a big race on debut to finish a close third to stablemates Isaac Newton and New Zealand. With the expected normal improvement sure to come, it's hard to see him not making it second time lucky here. Supports for Christmas Day and Perisher should be noted. 2024 Winner: Lady O J: Shane Foley T: Jessica Harrington Odds: 10/3 Our pick: ACTION Trainer: Aidan O'Brien Jockey: Wayne Lordan Form: 3 Age: 2 Weight: 9st 7lb ➡️ 5:00 Bathshack Maiden (3yo+) - 1m½f Spanish Princess made a pleasing start to her career when staying on well after a slow start to grab second place at Killarney. John McConnell isn't one to have his runners ready to go on their first career outing, so you can expect further improvement here. Little Miss P has shown bits and pieces that would give her a chance here, but Shark Hanlon's newest recruit, STAY IN THE GAME may be able to defy top weight here. He's been running at a decent level in the UK when trained by John & Sean Quinn, and if he can replicate his UK form on his first start in Ireland, he looks set to go close. Of the newcomers Moon Reign and Zediani could play a part. 2024 Winner: Flying Bay J: Ben Coen T: Andrew Kinirons Odds: 15/2 Our pick: STAY IN THE GAME Trainer: John Joseph Hanlon Jockey: Gavin Ryan Form: /27-42 Age: 4 Weight: 10st 1lb ➡️ 5:35 Ardilan Hotel Handicap (3yo+) – 7f A wide-open fifteen-runner handicap to get through here. Brains has been running well of late with a close third and fourth to his name in his last two starts. He has dropped two pounds for his last run, and if he can show the same form here, he has a live each-way chance. Zaraahmando comes in here on the back of a double and comes here eight pounds higher than his last win, but this in-form gelding is given huge respect. The one who loves it here and is a former winner of this race is DRAGON OF MALTA . He won this race off a five-pound higher mark, and after two shocking runs at the start of the season, the son of Dragon Pulse has found his feet once again. This looks to have been the plan for a long time, and he looks set to show his turn form once again. 2024 Winner: Imposing Supreme J: Gavin Ryan T: Thomas Gibney Odds: 4/1Fav Our pick: DRANGON OF MALTA Trainer: P F O'Donnell Jockey: Wayne Hassett (3lb) Form: 259-64 Age: 8 Weight: 9st 9lb ➡️ 6:05 McDonogh Capital Investments Handicap (4yo+) - 1m4f Pillar Of Hope and Thatwilldoso come in here on the back of convincing wins and top the list of main challengers to the selection LUKER'S TIPPLE . Andrew Kinirons is no stranger to success at the Galway Festival and has a good chance of adding to his record with Luker's Tipple. The son of Starspangledbanner threatened to become a decent juvenile hurdler, but he doesn't seem the same after taking a heavy fall when looking as if he was going to win a listed hurdle at Musselburgh. His last run on the flat saw him go down fighting to Mick Collins at Belewstown, and before that, he was a fine sixth to top mare Jetara. He makes his handicap debut, and he should be well up to winning a race of this nature despite being drawn out wide. Others to take note of are Rock Of Ireland, Ina Mina, and the lightly raced First Ascent. 2024 Winner: Oriole J: Dylan Brown McMonagle T: Natalia Lupini Odds: 7/1 Our pick: LUKER'S TIPPLE Trainer: J M Sheridan Jockey: Andrew Kinirons Form: 06-2 Age: 4 Weight: 10st 0lb ➡️ 🕔 Galway Festival day six schedule TIME RACE DISTANCE 2:02 BoyleSports Best Odds Guaranteed Maiden Hurdle 2m1f 2:37 BoyleSports Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle 2m1f 3:12 Listed BoyleSports Handicap Hurdle 2m6½f 3:52 Salthill Hotel Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race 2m1f 4:27 Whiriskey Refreshing Irish EBF Maiden 1m½f 5:00 Bathshack Maiden 1m½f 5:35 Ardliaun Hotel Handicap 7f 6:05 McDonogh Capital Investments Handicap 1m4f 📺 How to watch day six of the Galway Festival Location: Ballybrit, Galway, Ireland Date/Time: Saturday, 2nd August 2025.
