TCA demands immediate annulment of HCA

Hyderabad: Allegingthat the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) election held on 20 October 2023 was illegal, the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) on Monday demanded the immediate declaration of the HCA elected body as null and void. The TCA also called for the rustication of HCA's registration by the State Government and its membership of the BCCI. The TCA has further requested the CID and ED to investigate the role of individuals behind the alleged fraud. Dharam Guruva Reddy, General Secretary of the TCA, stated that the HCA amended Constitution of 2018 does not comply with the BCCI Constitution. He claimed that the HCA deliberately omitted the 'Associate Member' clause from the BCCI Constitution, thus failing to meet membership eligibility criteria. The BCCI Constitution clearly stipulates that institutions falling under the 'Associate Member' category should not possess voting rights. However, according to Reddy, the HCA permitted them to vote, similar to the Railway Promotion Board. He added that, as per membership rules, any representative attending an AGM or SGM should be a cricketer who has played for the respective institution and should be elected by the players' panel of that particular institution or board, rather than being a nominated person. As per Justice Lodha Committee reforms, ministers and government servants are prohibited from involvement in Cricket Board administration or affairs, and IAS and IPS officers are not supposed to attend HCA meetings. However, Guruva Reddy surprisingly pointed out that instead of adhering to the voters' list approved by Justice L Nageshwar Rao committee for the HCA Election held on 20 October 2023, most institutions sent their department heads, who were IAS and IPS officers, as proxies, which he termed illegal. Reddy asserted that approximately 23 institutions voted through individuals or officers not listed in the approved HCA voter list, citing a parallel with Jagan Mohan Rao's actions for Sri Chakra CC. He claimed there was a list of 47 institution clubs that were under immense pressure from then Ministers in the BRS Government—KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, and K Kavitha—who 'clearly wanted Jagan Mohan Rao to be elected.' The TCA General Secretary stated that around 155 clubs, institutions, and district associations within HCA do not meet the compliance standards of the Justice RM Lodha Committee. He argued that if three-quarters of the HCA General Body were supposedly disqualified and did not meet compliance, HCA should not be permitted to function with such a 'rotten body.'

The Deadly Flesh-Eating Bacteria: What You Need To Know About Vibrio Vulnificus

Last Updated: A rare flesh-eating bacteria lurking in warm coastal waters has claimed lives in Florida, raising urgent health concerns. As temperatures rise in the summer, so does the risk of bacterial infections—especially those caused by heat-loving microbes. Some bacteria flourish in warm climates, becoming potent enough to overwhelm human immune systems and cause life-threatening illnesses. In a disturbing development in 2025, four individuals in Florida lost their lives to a rare, flesh-eating bacteria. These fatalities are part of 11 confirmed cases this year alone. So, what exactly is this dangerous bacteria spreading across parts of the U.S.? The culprit is Vibrio vulnificus, a rare but deadly bacterium that thrives in warm, brackish water. According to Florida health authorities, the bacteria has been responsible for 448 reported infections and 100 deaths in the state since 2016. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that Vibrio vulnificus is typically found in higher concentrations from May through October, coinciding with warmer ocean temperatures. The CDC estimates around 80,000 Vibrio infections and roughly 100 related deaths occur in the U.S. annually, although not all are caused by Vibrio vulnificus specifically. Who faces the greatest risk? The recent Florida deaths occurred in Bay, Broward, Hillsborough, and St. Johns counties, with additional cases found in Duval, Escambia, Lee, Manatee, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties. Those with compromised immune systems or chronic health issues are most at risk. 'People who are most vulnerable include those undergoing chemotherapy, individuals with liver disease like cirrhosis, and anyone with weakened immune defenses," explained Dr. Edward Hirsch, an infectious disease expert at HCA Florida University Hospital, in an interview with CBS News. Ingesting the bacteria may lead to symptoms such as: Diarrhea Stomach pain Nausea Vomiting Fever When the bacteria enters the body through an open wound, signs may include: Swelling Skin discoloration Ulcers or skin breakdown Dr. Hirsch notes that the infection can cause the affected tissue to break down rapidly, potentially leading to holes in the skin or deeper tissue destruction. Why is it called a flesh-eating bacteria? Despite the name, Vibrio vulnificus doesn't literally 'eat" flesh. Instead, it kills surrounding tissue, often leading to a condition known as necrotizing fasciitis. Once this sets in, urgent medical treatment is necessary sometimes requiring extensive surgery or even limb amputation. How can you protect yourself? Preventing Vibrio vulnificus infections involves a few simple but crucial steps: Avoid swimming in saltwater or brackish water if you have cuts or open wounds If injured in the water, exit immediately and clean the wound thoroughly Use waterproof bandages to protect existing wounds that may come in contact with water or seafood Always clean and cook seafood properly Seek medical attention promptly if any wounds show signs of infection after exposure to coastal waters While Vibrio vulnificus infections are rare, their effects can be devastating. Awareness, caution, and quick action are key to staying safe during the warm summer months. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. CMO another name for hatching conspiracies, allege BRS netas

Hyderabad: Ridiculing allegations of corruption levelled against KTR and Kavitha concerning the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), BRS leaders have alleged that the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) has been transformed into a 'conspiracy manufacturing office.' Addressing a press conference, former Chairman of the Telangana Sports Authority, Dr Anjaneya Goud, claimed that the Chief Minister's Office in the state had become a hub for orchestrating conspiracies. 'The CMO has been converted into a conspiracy manufacturing office,' he asserted. Goud further alleged that recent newspaper reports implicating KTR, Kavitha, and Raj Pakal in an HCA scam were part of such fabricated stories, and that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's followers were exploiting the HCA apparatus for financial gain. The BRS leader highlighted that when Azharuddin was the HCA president, the Justice L Nageswara Rao Committee had reported numerous irregularities. Goud questioned what action was taken in response. He also asked whether there were no irregularities in HCA when Vivek was president. Pointing out that Azharuddin and Minister Vivek were both in the Congress party, he demanded to know why action should not be taken against them. 'During the Miss World beauty pageant, Revanth Reddy invited a BCCI official and concocted a plan to take over HCA,' Goud claimed. 'MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Revanth's follower Rohin Reddy have a role in the conspiracy to defame HCA. Both of them have also recently established cricket clubs. They are conspiring to make Rohin Reddy the HCA president. How can MP Gaddam Vamsi say a few days ago that a trick is going to happen in HCA?' Anjaneya Goud further stated that BJP leader D Guruva Reddy, who filed the complaint about HCA, was an 'anonymous person.' He questioned how newspapers could publish stories implying that Guruva Reddy's complaint would damage KTR's reputation. Goud emphasised that the HCA has a hundred-year history and all records for transactions made by the HCA president are available. He accused Revanth Reddy, who has claimed to expose various frauds, of sacrificing sports for his 'money hunt.' Goud dismissed as 'a complete lie' any claims that KTR's relatives were given IPL food contracts. Stating that all HCA contracts were conducted in the name of the secretary, Goud questioned whether Secretary Devaraj was being protected by Congress leader Keshav Rao for this reason. He also asked why Devaraj, who should have been designated as A1, was instead listed as A2. Goud claimed there were many cheating cases against the complainant, Guruva Reddy, and questioned whether authorities would believe him and file cases. The BRS leader concluded by stating that the cost of Uppal Stadium, initially projected at Rs 20 crore, had increased to Rs 100 crore, demanding an inquiry into this matter first. BRSV President Gellu Srinivas Yadav, former corporation chairman Palle Ravikumar, and BRS leaders Mahipal Mudiraj and Bachu Srinivas were also present at the press conference.

BRS leaders behind Hyderabad Cricket Association mess: TCA

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) on Thursday filed a complaint with the Crime Investigation Department (CID), seeking a probe into alleged irregularities in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The complaint named former minister KT Rama Rao and MLC K Kavitha, alleging that they had exerted influence over the HCA's functioning. TCA president Yendala Laxminarayana and secretary Guruva Reddy met CID Additional DGP Charu Sinha and submitted documents, forensic audit reports and other material. They sought an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of public funds, irregular team selections and related violations. The submission also included court orders, videos and news clips said to reflect the prevailing situation in the HCA. The TCA alleged that funds between Rs 500 and Rs 600 crore, sanctioned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the past decade, had not been used to develop cricket infrastructure. 'There is no visible development of cricket infrastructure in Hyderabad, nor has the HCA built or acquired any clear assets to date. However, examining the personal asset growth of several HCA office bearers over the last 10 years suggests widespread corruption,' the complaint stated. The complaint alleged that ever since the formation of Telangana, Kavitha and Rama Rao had been influencing decisions at the HCA. The complaint claimed that contracts for IPL ticket sales were awarded to companies linked to Rama Rao's brother-in-law, while catering and travel contracts were handed to relatives of Kavitha, Rama Rao and HCA president Jaganmohan Rao.
