Photo: Osanna Chiu/Instagram The Hong Kong film and television industry has been experiencing a downturn recently, with many actors seeing a drop in on-screen roles, according to HK01. Hong Kong actress Osanna Chiu is among those impacted. In an interview with the news portal, the 35-year-old revealed that she filmed two TVB dramas last year and another earlier in March. However, she currently has no new projects lined up with the broadcaster and is now exploring other job opportunities while waiting for her next role. 'There aren't any new projects planned for now, but I'm doing my best while I wait,' she said. When asked if the decrease in acting projects have affected her income, Chiu simply answered: 'I've been surviving on a basic salary... It's more or less the same.' To help with income, the Forensic Heroes VI: Redemption star has taken on other side jobs, including influencer work, writing food reviews and more. 'If any opportunity arises, I'll definitely go for it. I really hope to secure more acting gigs,' she said. Chiu also shared that she has been learning yoga for the past two years and is planning to pick up sound bowl therapy this year. 'I might turn those (hobbies) into a side hustle in the future,' she added. Chiu made her acting debut in 2013 with the sitcom Come Home Love and has also appeared in popular TVB dramas like Big White Duel , Sinister Beings and Speakers Of Law .

#SHOWBIZ: Barbie Hsu's ex-husband holds wedding celebration with Bulgari gifts

BEIJING: Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, 44, the ex-husband of the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, held a wedding banquet with his new wife, 26-year-old influencer Mandy Ma, on May 17. The couple reportedly registered their marriage in 2024, but this intimate celebration in Beijing served as their official ceremony. The banquet, held at a traditional courtyard-style restaurant, was attended only by close family and friends. However, Wang's children from his previous marriage – an 11-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son – were not present. Ma wore a striking red cheongsam, keeping her jewellery minimal, while Wang appeared in a black suit embroidered with a golden dragon. HK01 reported that wedding guests received gift boxes adorned with Chinese knots, containing Bulgari products and antique porcelain bottles – traditional symbols of good fortune. Wang's mother, entrepreneur Zhang Lan, also prepared three symbolic talismans for the couple, said to represent wisdom and strength. Reports also claimed that Wang bought a new marital home and commissioned a diamond-embedded gown for Ma. Hsu, who married Korean radio announcer Koo Jun-yup in 2022 after her split from Wang, passed away in February at the age of 49 due to pneumonia-related complications. She and Wang were married for over a decade before their divorce in 2021.

The couple reportedly registered their marriage in 2024, but the intimate celebration in Beijing marked the official ceremony. Held at a traditional courtyard-style restaurant, the banquet was attended only by close family and friends. However, Wang's children from his previous marriage – 11-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son – were notably absent. Ma wore a striking red cheongsam but kept her jewellery minimal, opting out of the customary dragon and phoenix bangles. Instead, she accessorised with a coordinated headpiece, necklace and floral bouquet. Wang appeared in a black suit embroidered with a golden dragon. The couple later changed into Western wedding attire and held a private vow exchange on the lawn. According to reports, both exchanged heartfelt "I dos", with Wang shouting his twice, each louder than the last. The wedding has sparked speculation online, with many wondering whether Wang spent most – if not all – of his life savings on the celebration. Reports claim he bought a new marital home and commissioned a diamond-embedded gown for Ma. A financial blogger going by 'Stock Futures 998' even alleged that the betrothal gifts for Ma reached 6.66mil, though it remains unclear whether that figure is in Chinese yuan or New Taiwan dollars. Barbie Hsu, who married Korean DJ Koo Jun-yup in 2022 following her split from Wang, passed away in February at the age of 49 due to pneumonia-related complications. She and Wang were married for over a decade before their high-profile divorce in 2021.

#SHOWBIZ: HK actor Ai Wai pleads for liver donation for critically ill wife

HONG KONG: Actor Ai Wai is appealing for a "life-changing miracle" for his wife, Lisa Chan, who is critically ill with severe liver disease. In a recent Facebook post, the 66-year-old Hong Kong actor, who has faced financial difficulties in recent months, revealed that Lisa urgently needs a liver donor with O+ blood. "She was placed on the liver transplant waiting list two months ago, but sadly, a suitable donor still hasn't been found. Her family members are also unable to donate," Ai Wai wrote. "Now, all I can do is give my best and appeal to anyone willing to help by becoming a donor." Speaking to Hong Kong news outlet HK01, Ai Wai explained that Lisa's condition began deteriorating two months prior, with the onset of jaundice and swelling. The Time Before Time (1997) star shared that Lisa, his wife of 22 years, now requires daily blood purification treatments and is currently intubated in the intensive care unit (ICU). According to Ai Wai, Lisa's impaired liver function has led to a buildup of toxins, affecting her brain and causing occasional confusion. "There are moments when she doesn't realise she's intubated and insists on being discharged to go out for breakfast," he said. Ai Wai revealed that while Lisa was initially optimistic about her recovery, her fighting spirit has waned recently. Hoping to uplift her, Ai Wai reached out to his friend and fellow actor, Michael Miu, who contacted superstar Chow Yun Fat. Chow, 69, personally visited Lisa in the hospital and promised to go jogging and eat pineapple buns with her once she recovers.
