GU syndicate member resigns
Ahmedabad: A major controversy erupted at Gujarat University (GU) after serious allegations against govt-appointed syndicate member Shvetal Sutaria. She was accused of demanding Rs 75 lakh from the director of the university's Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) in exchange for grant approval. In the wake of these allegations, an emergency online syndicate meeting was convened on Tuesday. However, before the meeting could commence, Sutaria sent in her resignation and joined the meeting virtually. Since the meeting was specifically called to discuss the allegations against her, she was instructed to exit the session. The syndicate unanimously decided to accept her resignation and forward it to the state govt for further action. Sutaria, who earlier completed one term as a syndicate member, was re-appointed by the govt for a second term. Of the four syndicate seats directly appointed by the state — reserved for eminent personalities, educationists, women, and backward class representatives — Sutaria occupied one. Sources said, the HRDC director submitted concrete evidence along with the complaint to the university registrar and the vice-chancellor, alleging that Sutaria demanded a bribe of Rs 75 lakh for clearing grant-related matters. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it better to shower in the morning or at night? This is a conspiracy to defame me," she said in a statement.

Lucknow University is set to receive a new political museum. It will be constructed on the first floor of the building housing Human Resource and Development Centre (HRDC), shared vice-chancellor prof Alok Kumar Rai. The construction of an examination building will help in re-structuring various departments at Lucknow University (HT Photo) 'The museum will include photos, busts or both of leading political thinkers. A showcase with the photos and busts where writings of the political leaders will be displayed is also planned. We will also include write-ups on political leaders in the showcase,' said Rai. He said that along with the museum, the political science department will also be shifted on the first and second floor of the building housing HRDC. At present, political science classes are held in the rooms shared with the Hindi department. The shifting of the departments will provide proper space to both Hindi and political science departments. 'This shift is made possible due to the construction of a new examination building near the Cameroon Road. The area for the examination building was cleared after two residences formerly constructed for faculty members which were lying deserted for a long time due to their dilapidated state were razed,' said Rai. Currently, evaluation of examination copies is done in six buildings - one housing HRDC, in the buildings housing SBI bank and UCO bank, in the buildings housing Jyotirvigyan department, ONGC and in some portions of Arts Quadrangle. 'The new building will enable us to provide appropriate space for various departments through re-shuffling and have one specified hub for examination purposes. The new evaluation building will be centrally air conditioned with proper seating space for over 200 people on each floor. The building will have ground plus four floors in all. It will also have a separate designated space for examination copies,' Rai added. He also said that they are also planning to bring UCO bank in the same building as SBI bank which will provide an appropriate space for banking.

Meet Constable Neo Sedi…
SEDIBENG – In celebration of Youth Month, the SAPS has embarked on a series of profiles to highlight the work of its young men and women in blue who go above and beyond the call of duty. Meet Constable Neo Sedi (30) who is attached to the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) in Vaalrand in Gauteng as a tactical trainer. His journey with the SAPS began in 2019. In 2020, he was placed at the Zamdela Police Station in the Free State, gaining hands-on experience in both the Client Service Centre (CSC) and Crime Prevention duties, before moving to Sasolburg Public Order Policing (POP) towards the end of 2020. Sedi was later transferred to Sedibeng K9 in the Vaal where he continued upskilling himself through attendance of several in-service training courses, including First Responder to Sexual Offences, Tactical Policing, Domestic Violence Programme, Road Crime Crash First Responder, DNA Buccal Sampling, Basic and Drug Crime Investigation, Human Rights in Policing and many others. While thriving in operational environments, Sedi discovered a parallel passion: to develop other members. His exposure to various in-service training opportunities sparked an academic fire within him, one that would eventually fuel his pursuit of becoming a tactical trainer and an academic facilitator. This year, he officially joined the HRDC in Vaalrand. As a tactical trainer in the SAPS, Sedi teaches specialised skills and training such as the Use of Firearm training, Tactical Policing, Tactical Survival Techniques, and present annual maintenance shooting. He is currently pursuing his post-school education in the field of law, further deepening his understanding of the law, policing and justice. 'For me, policing is about more than reaction;, it's about preparation. If we prepare our members well, we empower them to perform with confidence and credibility, both on the ground and in the courts,' said Sedi. To the youth of South Africa, his message is simple but profound: 'Find your passion and serve it with purpose. Don't wait for opportunity, prepare for it.' At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
