Bahrain's HSE Conference Opens with Emotional Tribute and Powerful Message

In a powerful address at the opening of the 9th International Conference and Exhibition on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), H.E. Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, emphasized the importance of collaboration, safety, and shared responsibility in the energy sector.
'This conference reaffirms the need for ongoing commitment to safety and environmental responsibility,' said the minister during his opening speech. Reflecting on a recent tragedy that struck the sector, he added, 'Just three weeks ago, Bapco Energies lost three colleagues. Losing someone is like losing a brother. It's a painful reminder that no matter how much we achieve in investments and growth, safety must always remain our top priority.'
He also expressed deep appreciation for the support extended by fellow institutions and colleagues. 'Having a colleague who stands by your side matters a lot. In our most difficult hour, our big brother Aramco reached out, and we are truly grateful.'
The event, exclusively hosted by Bahrain's Ministry of Oil and Environment in strategic partnership with Aramco, brought together leading experts under the theme: 'Connecting Minds, Inspiring Transformation.' It focused on keynote industry addresses, technical sessions, and behavioral technology innovations to tackle current and future challenges in HSE practices.
Representing Aramco, Ghassan G. Abulfaraj, Vice President and Chief Loss Prevention Engineer, expressed gratitude for the Kingdom's support. 'We're proud to be promoted and welcomed in Bahrain. This conference is a platform to exchange insights and explore cutting-edge technologies in sustainability. We can't solve these challenges in isolation—this gathering of high-caliber professionals proves we can make a powerful impact together.'
The conference aims to foster collaboration and innovation across the region, ensuring best practices in health, safety, and environmental standards are shared and developed collectively.
The technical program will feature keynote speeches by industry leaders, strategic panels, technical sessions led by subject matter experts, and a world-class exhibition showcasing the latest advancements in HSE solutions. Key industry priorities including AI-driven HSE intelligence, behavioral safety leadership, crisis preparedness, and sustainability-driven risk management will take center stage, ensuring organizations gain the insights needed to navigate evolving global challenges.
It was also announced that the 2026 edition of the HSE Conference will be held in Oman, marking a continued regional commitment to advancing safety and sustainability in the energy sector.
