Gurdwara bodies of Haryana and Punjab clash over control of Miri Piri group of institutions
1 2 3 Chandigarh: Within days of establishing the elected body, tensions have emerged between the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee manned trust, which manages the Miri-Piri group of institutions, including the medical college at Kurukshetra. The war of words between the two Sikh bodies intensified after the executive body of the HSGMC, led by president Jagdish Singh Jhinda, former president Baljit Singh Daduwal, and other executive members, visited the medical college site in Shahabad Markanda. This was followed by a meeting with the Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini. During their visit to the medical college, Jhinda and Baljit Singh Daduwal asked the local management to hand over control to the HSGMC as the premises were established on the land of Gurdwara Mastgarh Sahib. "During their tenure, the SGPC created a private trust and raised the building of the said medical college on the land owned by Gurdwara Sahib. Now, with the implementation of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Act 2014, all the gurughars are under the control of the HSGMC. According to the act, the movable and immovable assets on gurughars and their land are now under the control of the HSGMC. Since the Badal family created a family trust to manage this institute, we have termed this as illegal and initiated the process to acquire the same in accordance with the provisions of the Act," said Baljit Singh Daduwal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo "The college has 100 medical seats, but no infrastructure. Once we manage the affairs, we shall put everything in place systematically. We have brought this to the notice of the CM as well as the govt and have sought their support," said Daduwal. When contacted, Sukhminder Singh, secretary of the trust managing the Miri Piri group of institutions, categorically dismissed the claims of the HSGMC. "Firstly, the issue related to this institution is under litigation and the court has imposed a stay. They can download the orders from the website and get those vetted by the govt as well as their legal team. Let them get the stay vacated and take directions from the court," said Sukhminder Singh. Will manage gurdwaras in Haryana under Akal Takht Sahib's patronage: HSGMC president Jhinda
Newly elected president of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) Jagdish Singh Jhinda said they are dedicated to Akal Takht Sahib and would serve the community and manage the gurdwaras in Haryana under its patronage. Accompanied by the HSGMC member and Sikh preacher Baljit Singh Daduwal, Jhinda was in Amritsar to pay obeisance at Golden Temple and Akal Takht to offer thanks and seek blessings of the almighty on Wednesday. Responding to a query on objection raised by Sikh prisoner Balwant Singh Rajoana over SGPC's proposal to display portrait of former Prime Minister late Manmohan Singh in Central Sikh Museum in Golden Temple complex, he said, 'There should no objection over the resolve as Manmohan Singh's contribution is unmatched on national and international level. He was a world-renowned economist. Being a devout Sikh, he brightened the name of the Sikhs across the world. So, his portrait should be installed in the museum'. Speaking on the conversion of Sikhs to Christianity, Jhinda said, 'The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is Sikh parliament and our apex body. However, it could not carry out dharam parchar properly. Thanks to its laxity, the Sikh brethren are being taken into the fold of Christianity, which is cause of concern for the community.'

YouTuber espionage case: Devices sent for forensic analysis
1 2 3 Hisar: In a development in the espionage case involving YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra , Hisar police have recovered five electronic devices—three mobile phones and a laptop from Malhotra, and two mobile phones from Harkirat Singh, IT in-charge of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC). All the devices were sent to a cyber forensic laboratory for analysis. According to the investigating agencies, Malhotra was in contact with Danish, an official at the Pakistan High Commission , from Nov 2023 until March 2025. Authorities also revealed that Malhotra holds multiple bank accounts with thousands of transactions, making financial analysis a time-consuming process. A leaked chat between Malhotra and a Pakistani intelligence officer identified as Ali Hasan went viral. In the conversation, Hasan allegedly asked Malhotra whether she met any undercover individuals during a visit to the Attari border and instructed her to bring them to a room in the gurdwara if she did. Ali Hasan is believed to be the same individual whom Danish instructed Malhotra to meet during her trip to Pakistan. Hasan is said to have arranged her travel and accommodation. Meanwhile, national agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Military Intelligence (MI), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) continued questioning Malhotra in Hisar. A formal complaint was filed by sub-inspector Bijendra Singh, following which the Civil Lines police station registered a case against Malhotra on May 16. She was charged under Section 152 (act endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India) of the Bhartiya Naya Sanhita, along with Sections 3 (penalties) and 5 (wrongful communication, etc., of information) of the Official Secrets Act. She was arrested the next day, presented in court on May 17, and remanded to five days in police custody. Authorities are scheduled to present her in court again on May 22. MSID:: 121293636 413 |
