HUAWEI Unveils Pura 80 Ultra with Advanced Cameras
Home » Top stories » HUAWEI Unveils Pura 80 Ultra with Advanced Cameras Smartphones have become the most popular tool for photography. A recent study revealed that 94% of the trillions of photos taken in 2024 were captured using smartphone cameras. Despite the popularity, a noticeable quality gap remains between smartphone cameras and mirrorless cameras. This is especially true for telephoto lenses, which often suffer from lower-grade sensors due to size and cost limitations. HUAWEI has announced a solution to this issue with its new Pura 80 Ultra smartphone. The device features a Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera, combining a 3.7x medium telephoto and a 9.4x super-telephoto lens that share a single large sensor. This setup brings the telephoto camera quality in line with that of main cameras on flagship phones. The large sensor, along with updated image processing algorithms, significantly improves low-light photography. According to HUAWEI, the Ultra Chroma Camera enhances detail restoration and color accuracy, particularly in long-distance and low-light conditions. Users can now capture high-quality images even at challenging events such as concerts or on wildlife safaris. The Pura 80 Ultra excels in scenarios with difficult lighting thanks to its ability to handle color saturation and dynamic range effectively. • The 3.7x telephoto lens produces flattering portraits with shallow depth of field. • The 9.4x super-telephoto lens enables close-ups from long distances without sacrificing detail. HUAWEI also revealed that the main camera has undergone a major upgrade. The 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR Camera delivers superior performance with an exceptional dynamic range of 16EV. The F1.6-F4.0 variable aperture enhances light intake, improving clarity in both bright and dark environments. The AI Cinematic Engine enables the Pura 80 Ultra to record video with balanced exposure and vibrant detail. Whether capturing backlit portraits or flames in night scenes, the camera maintains lifelike color reproduction and realistic lighting. With this launch, HUAWEI aims to close the gap between smartphone and professional photography. The Pura 80 Ultra offers users creative freedom that was once only possible with dedicated camera equipment. Huawei Consumer Business Group continues to expand its global reach. With operations in over 170 countries and a wide range of smart devices, HUAWEI remains committed to innovation and intelligent user experiences.

Samsung TriFold's biggest rival could come with upgraded cameras and a new chip
Paul Jones / Android Authority TL;DR HUAWEI's upcoming Mate XT 2 is set to build on its original tri-fold phone with modest spec improvements. Upgrades include the Kirin 9020 SoC, a new 50MP variable aperture main sensor, an enhanced periscope telephoto camera, and satellite connectivity. The Mate XT 2 is tipped to launch in September, while Samsung's tri-fold is expected in October. We're all hyped up about Samsung's upcoming tri-fold phone, rumored to be called either the Galaxy G Fold or the Galaxy Z TriFold, depending on which rumor you believe. While the phone will be a technological marvel in its own right, it won't be the first tri-fold phone. HUAWEI holds that title with the HUAWEI Mate XT, and we now have leaked specs for its successor. Leaker Digital Chat Station has shared the specifications for the next iteration of the HUAWEI Mate XT on Weibo. The leaker cited TENAA regulatory listings for a phone with model number GRL-AL20 to indicate that HUAWEI has received a certification for 5G support. The successor to the Mate XT is expected to be a minor upgrade to the original tri-fold phone. For its specs, the Mate XT 2 (presumed name) is said to feature the Kirin 9020 SoC and satellite connectivity (possibly only in China). Upgrades are said to come in the form of a new 50MP large-pixel sensor with variable aperture and some improvements to the periscope telephoto camera. Paul Jones / Android Authority Despite these minor upgrades, HUAWEI is a strong competitor against Samsung, primarily because it already has a big lead with the Mate XT. The Mate XT Ultimate Edition featured a Kirin 9010 SoC, 16GB RAM, up to 1TB storage, a 5,600mAh battery with support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The camera setup consisted of a 50MP f/1.4-f/4 primary sensor, a 12MP periscope telephoto for 5.5x optical zoom, a 12MP ultrawide, and an 8MP selfie camera. The OLED displays steal the show, with the three setups possible: 10.2-inch fully unfolded, 7.9-inch when folded once, and 6.4-inch when fully folded. It does cost an eye-watering €3,500, but bleeding-edge tech comes at a cost. Would you buy a tri-folding foldable phone? 3796 votes Yes, for sure 60 % Maybe 22 % No, I wouldn't 18 % The Mate XT 2 is expected to launch in September, while Samsung's tri-fold is expected in October. Samsung definitely has its task cut out for itself, though the playing field is tilted in its favor thanks to availability in Western markets. Got a tip? Talk to us! We now have a better idea of when the Samsung tri-fold will launch
Samsung TL;DR A long-time leaker claims that Samsung will launch its first triple-screen foldable or tri-fold device in September. This comes a week after Samsung's mobile head said the company wants to launch the device before the end of 2025. Samsung's tri-fold is said to offer a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 10-inch folding screen, and the same rear cameras as the Z Fold 7. Samsung's mobile chief confirmed last week that the company aims to launch its first triple-screen foldable phone (also known as a 'tri-fold') before the end of the year. It now looks like we've got a possible launch window. Veteran tipster Ice Universe claimed on Weibo that Samsung's triple-screen device will launch in October. If confirmed, this means we'll see the landmark foldable well before the end of the year. The leaker also claimed that HUAWEI's second-generation Mate XT will be launched in September. So we're keen to see how the follow-up to the world's first triple-screen foldable compares to Samsung's first tri-fold. We already have a good idea of what to expect in terms of Samsung's design, as we recently discovered official animation files showing the new foldable. Samsung's triple-screen foldable might use a G-shaped design with two inward-folding hinges. Meanwhile, HUAWEI's device uses one inward-folding hinge and one outward-folding hinge. Samsung's approach enables a separate cover display, while HUAWEI's design sees part of the folding screen used as a cover display. A previous leak suggests that Samsung's new foldable phone will have a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 10-inch folding OLED screen, and the same rear camera system as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (200MP main, 10MP 3x tele, 12MP ultrawide). The device will reportedly be restricted to Korea and China, with an apparent starting price of more than ~$2,900. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . I ditched my old watch for the HUAWEI Fit 4 Pro and my friends thought it was an Apple Watch
The first time the HUAWEI Watch FIT 4 Pro was taken out of the box, it looked every bit like an Apple Watch. Friends noticed too, the green strap, the rectangular face, and the subtle shine of titanium at the edges all give off serious Apple energy. It is rare to find an Android smartwatch that nails this kind of look while keeping things functional, at the least. What surprised most was not just how great it looks but how it feels. At just over 30 grams, the watch felt like nothing on the wrist, even after hours of use. The band is soft and flexible, hugs the wrist just right, and is easy to swap out. Walking through the day, the sapphire glass catches the light, always clear and never scratched, something a plastic-screened tracker could never pull off. I ditched my old watch for the HUAWEI Fit 4 Pro and my friends thought it was an Apple Watch The titanium alloy bezel adds a quiet confidence, not flashy, but sturdy enough that if banged against a desk or doorframe rushing to catch a call (which happened twice in one day), it barely leaves a mark. HUAWEI Watch Fit 4 Pro Review One early morning, waking up to a measly 17% battery was a reminder. Putting the watch on the charger and making tea was enough time to get it to 100%. After four days with all sensors running nonstop, even sleep tracking active every night, the battery was still at 53%. That is exceptional, far outlasting most mainstream smartwatches under demanding conditions, validating HUAWEI's claim of up to 10 days for light users or seven days with typical use and always-on display off. Quick charging means just 10 minutes on the wireless SuperCharger delivers a full day's battery, brilliant for hectic mornings. Consistent stamina means heavy users don't worry about running out of power mid-day. The display is bright, really bright. Taking a call on the terrace under harsh sunlight posed no trouble. The 1.82-inch screen with sapphire crystal cover is always clear. The always-on setting pulls battery life down a bit, but glancing at the time was effortless and lag-free. This watch goes way past the basics. It packs in over 100 workout modes, backed by dual-band GPS and a built-in barometer for accurate environmental tracking. Trail runs were logged easily with accurate GPS. The barometer details elevation gains. If you enjoy swimming, the EN 13319 certification for free dives up to 40 metres is advanced for most users but reassuring. Wearing it through showers and splashes caused no concern - although I don't understand why someone would wear their watch in the shower everyday. Custom reminders for diving and a hover timer should help even in the pool. Workout analysis is also good. Ground contact time, running form, calories, and real-time heart rate broadcast to gym equipment come as bonuses. The Stay Fit food log encouraged better meal awareness and animated rings on the watch face kept motivation up before bed. Messages and calls arrived on the wrist without needing the phone while voice replies worked when hands were full. The remote shutter became a personal favourite for group selfies and watch faces offer everything from mood-based pet animations to minimal styles. Health insights extend beyond steps. Sleep phases, heart rate variability, menstrual cycles, mood, stress, ECG, and gentle reminders balance data depth with discretion. The platform is rich with info but understands when to stay quiet. Compatibility is best on Android for full depth. iOS users get basics but some advanced features like golf and navigation depend on phone and region. Navigation and voice cues make trail runs relaxed while the sapphire display resisted scratches even while tossed in a bag with keys and coins. Friends kept asking about it, sure it was an Apple Watch. Band swaps are simple with plenty of styles fitting easily. Third-party app selection is not as strong as Apple or Google's platforms. Some location-dependent features may need setup or be region-specific. Those are minor trade-offs compared to build quality and features. For an Android smartwatch that looks and feels as refined as an Apple Watch, the HUAWEI Watch FIT 4 Pro is the best bet - especially at the cost of ₹ 20,999. Sapphire glass and titanium make it durable without sacrificing beauty. The featherlight fit and thoughtful features improve daily life. It solves problems quietly yet effectively. For Android users who want style and comfort without compromise, this watch is a winner.
