Teen motorcyclist killed in crash along LPT2 near Kerteh
KEMAMAN: A teenage boy was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in an accident at Kilometre 321.3 of the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) near Kerteh early this morning.
In the 12.05am incident, the victim, identified as Hairodariush Amri Hairodadamizan, 16, died at the scene after sustaining severe injuries from being dragged about 33 metres in the crash.
Kemaman district police chief Superintendent Mohd Razi Rosli said the teenager was reportedly riding in a convoy with several friends from Paka, Dungun to Kijal prior to the accident.
"The victim was believed to be on his way home to Kampung Titian Berayun in Kijal when the accident occurred.
"He was riding a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle alone when he is said to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road," he was quoted as saying to Buletin TV3.
Mohd Razi said the motorcycle crashed into the expressway's metal guardrail.
"The impact caused the victim to be thrown and dragged to the middle of the highway," he said.
The victim's body was sent to the Kemaman Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
