Balaram Jayanti is considered as an auspicious day to worship Lord Balaram, an elder brother of Shri Krishna. The day celebrates the birth anniversary of Balaram Ji. This day is also known as Hal Sashti.

Balaram Jayanti 2025: Significance
One of the major Hindu festivals, Balaram Jayanti is devoted to Balaram Ji, Lord Krishna's elder brother. Another name for Balaram Jayanti is Hal Sashti.
In Rajasthan, it is known as Chandra Shashti; in Gujarat, it is called Randhan Chhath; and in Braj, it is called Baledev Chhath. It is believed that Balaram ji was a form of Shesh Nag Ji who came down on earth before Lord Krishna was born and when Lord Shri Ram came to earth, he also came on earth in the form of Laxman Ji.
He always depicted as holding a plough in his hand and that's why he is called as Haldhar and Balbhadra.
Devotees, who come from a farming family, worship Lord Balaram with great trust and devotion.
On this fortunate day, they also venerate their tool plough. Women also pray to Lord Balaram. It is also believed that women who do not have son, must worship Lord Balaram and offer him sincere prayers. Women also offfer prayers to him for the children's health and longevity. In the country's eastern region, it is also known as Lalhi Chhath.

According to Hindu Scriptures, Lord Krishna told Uttara the significance of this sacred fast and asked her to observe it for the sake of the unborn child's health, and as explained by Shri Krishna, she followed all the rituals and observe the fast to seek blessings of Balaram Ji.
She restored her shattered womb and faithfully kept the fast. Since then every women started fasting on this day for Vansh Vriddhi and offer puja to Lord Balaram with sincerity.
Balaram Jayanti 2025: Puja Rituals
Women take a sacred bath after rising early in the morning. They make a little pond. Create a weapon that resembles Lord Balaram's weapon by using a stem of straw grass and palaash flowers. One must offer the satanaja (wheat, gram, paddy, maize, sorghum, millet, and barley) to the Lord and light a diya with desi ghee. Hal Sashti Katha should be recited by all women. Parents should pray for their children's health, and those who desire a son should seek the blessings of the Lord.
Here are some following fasting tips for the day:
1. It is forbidden to use curd or cow's milk on this day.
2. Yogurt and buffalo milk can be used.
3. It is also forbidden to eat fruits, grains, along with cow's milk.
4. It is recommended that they only eat sattvik cuisine to break their fast.
