Who has Iowa's Best Burger? The 2025 winner comes from a sports bar in Pleasantville, Iowa
Voters with the Iowa Beef Industry Council have spoken and declared Pleasantville, Iowa, southeast of Des Moines home to the best burger in the state. The annual contest, now in its 16th year, is sponsored by the he Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen's Association. More than 6,000 fans of Iowa burgers submitted nominations for more than 400 restaurants. A group of secret judges reviewed the top 10 vote-getters and determines a final winner. So who won the title of best burger in Iowa? The organization named the hamburger at Halftime Bar & Grill in Pleasantville the best in Iowa. Kevin and Kathy DeHeer, along with their children, Amanda and Tyler DeHeer, have owned and operated Halftime Bar & Grill for more than two years after buying the restaurant in 2023. The sports bar offers nine burgers, including a classic bacon cheeseburger, a sriracha bourbon burger, over-the-top beer cheeseburger, and the Humpback Burger with an 8-ounce all-beef patty topped with ham, pepper jack cheese, bacon, and sautéed onions that is then drizzled with Halftime's smoky house sauce. Travis Hunter headlines Savannah Bananas' latest game with a cameo performance
Travis Hunter headlines Savannah Bananas' latest game with a cameo performance The Savannah Bananas, a barnstorming baseball team, has overtaken the exhibition baseball world over the past few years. They consistently attract notable celebrities to their games to entertain the fans. On Friday, the Bananas brought a recent Colorado football celebrity to their game, much to the crowd's approval. That guest was none other than Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. The projected top-10 pick in the upcoming NFL draft threw out the first pitch for the Bananas, which counted, unlike typical ceremonial first pitches in baseball. For obvious reasons, Hunter did not play in the game, but once the Bananas scored their first run, Hunter came out and put on a show. He came out dancing to none other than Deion Sanders' theme music, "Halftime" by the Ying Yang Twins, and even performed his Heisman pose and a backflip. Hunter made quite the appearance, his personality oozing through, as it seemingly always does when performing. The cameo was just another stop for Hunter throughout his pre-draft process as he gears up for individual team visits with interested NFL organizations. Hunter's Heisman Trophy-winning season was unprecedented as he racked up 96 receptions, 1,258 yards, 15 touchdowns, 36 tackles, four interceptions and 11 pass deflections. The Colorado and now Savannah Bananas star will find out his NFL home in under two weeks when the NFL draft takes place April 24-26. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads, and Instagram.
