Hall County deputies looking for two missing runaway brothers
The Hall County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for two missing teen brothers from Gainesville. Deputies say Joshua Lorenzo Ventura, 14, and Alain Lorenzo, 15, ran away from a family member's house at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The boys had been staying at a home on Memorial Drive. It is unknown if they were walking or if someone picked them up. His brother Alain is five feet, five inches tall, weighs approximately 118 lbs., and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket. Hall County teacher accused of having inappropriate relationship with middle schooler
A now-former teacher is being held in the Hall County Jail after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his students. The Hall County Sheriff's Office says Eduardo Abinadab Landino, a 27-year-old teacher at West Hall Middle School, was arrested during a traffic stop on Tuesday. That's when the sheriff's office began investigating. Investigators say Landino groomed a female student for sex acts with phone calls, text messages, social media and in-person conversations at school. They also say that he drove her home from sports practice and asked her to perform a sex act. Report of attempted abduction of 12-year-old Hall County girl was fake, deputies say
Claims about an attempted abduction of a 12-year-old Hall County girl turned out to be fake, the sheriff's office announced Thursday night. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The Hall County Sheriff's Office began an investigation Thurday morning after deputies said a suspect tried grabbing a 12-year-old girl from a bus stop. Deputies said the man came out of the woods and grabbed the girl's arm near Old Cornelia Highway and E. Main Street in Gainesville. After searching for a suspect and investigating the case throughout the day, investigators interviewed the 12-year-old Thursday afternoon. She later admitted to investigators, that no one tried to abduct her while waiting for the bus. Investigators believe a neighbor verbally greeted the child from his porch. Officials said she became scared and ran home, making up the story about an attempted abduction. The sheriff's office said investigators will not pursue charges. 'HCSO is committed to connecting the child and her family with care and services.' 'While this was an unfortunate situation, the important things to remember are that the child is safe and there isn't a kidnapper at large,' Sheriff Gerald Couch said. 'I would like to thank members of the community for keeping their eyes open throughout the day and also our deputies, investigators and law enforcement partners for their diligent work.' Threat against Hall County high school found to be not credible
Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff's Office are investigating a threat against the lives of students and staff at Chestatee High School that ended up not being credible. Following a threatening call just after 2 p.m. Monday, the school on Sardis Road was placed on an interior lockdown while law enforcement searched the campus. Dozens of uniformed members of the Hall County Sheriff's Office, including four K9 teams, responded to search the campus. After the parking lot and the outside perimeter of the school were cleared and deemed safe, students were removed from the buildings. Fortunately, nothing suspicious was found during the search. The investigation is ongoing as investigators work to determine who made the call. No one was injured during the incident. Georgia Woman Allegedly Gave Toddler a Joint — Then Filmed Him Hogtied in Disturbing Snapchat Video: Police
A Georgia woman is facing felony charges after authorities allege she gave a toddler a marijuana joint. Brooke Morgan Bestpitch, 24, is facing charges after an investigation allegedly showed abuse of a toddler in her care, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, WSBTV and the Gainesville Times, who cited authorities in Hall County. Bestpitch was first investigated by the Habersham County Sheriff's Office and then turned over to the Hall County Sheriff's Office on Dec. 18, 2024, according to the outlets. Initial investigations alleged that Bestpitch gave the toddler a marijuana joint and allowed him to smoke it. She was arrested on Feb. 6 and charged with reckless conduct, according to local outlets. She was then taken to a local jail and released the next day on a $1,300 bond, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Investigators said they then obtained search warrants for Bestpitch's cell phones and Snapchat account where they found graphic videos and photos allegedly showing the toddler hogtied with belts and yarn, according to the outlet, which cited the Hall County Sheriff's Office. In one video, the child had a dog leash around his neck and Bestpitch was seen allegedly pulling the leash, constraining the toddler's neck, authorities told the local on the new evidence, investigators issued an arrest warrant for Bestpitch on a felony first-degree child cruelty charge, according to the outlet. She was taken into custody on April 11 and released the following day on a $11,200 bond. It is still unknown what the relationship is between Bestpitch and the toddler, or whether the child suffered any injuries, per the outlet.
