It Looks Like Marvel Studios Is Ditching Comic-Con This Year — GeekTyrant
There are dueling reports regarding what Marvel's plans are for Comic-Con this year. Heat Vision is saying, 'Marvel will break with tradition and not have its infamous, senses-shattering Saturday evening Hall H panel.' This seems crazy to me because they have so much going one right now and they'd have plenty of stuff to announce and show off. But they say, 'it didn't feel like the right [time].' It's explained that the 'company is still planing panels and events focused on its comics and games, as well as a booth that will play off of the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps , which opens in theaters on the Friday of the annual fan convention.' Before that news hit, another report from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus, who is pretty reliable, said Marvel Studios was planning to drop the first teaser for Avengers: Doomsday at SDCC 2025. So, I guess he didn't get that one right. Avengers: Doomsday is the next massive team-up event from the MCU and fans could get their first look at the movie during the the event's run from July 24–27. While nothing is confirmed, the idea isn't far-fetched. In a response to a fan question, Perez shared: 'I have heard Marvel will return for SDCC, but I don't expect them to make it a grand spectacle like they normally do with Phase reveals. I think that the main focus for Marvel at SDCC will be to promote their new film, Fantastic Four: The First Steps, which coincidentally drops around the same time as SDCC this year. 'I'd also expect looks at Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and VisionQuest, and an additional first look, possibly maybe even a teaser of Avengers: Doomsday.' So, the focus may not be a full-blown Phase 6 rollout, but there's a good chance Doomsday sneaks in with a first look, especially since it's already been filming since April. Marvel has a history of previewing early footage for the Comic-Con crowd before the rest of us get to see it. The film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are returning after their high-stakes run with Infinity War and Endgame, is already in production and scheduled to hit theaters December 18, 2026. I was hoping that Marvel would show up to SDCC this year, they always tend to give fans a thrilling mic-drop moment. It would've been wild to see them bring out the entire cast for Doomsday, including all of the unannounced cast members! That would be insane! But, it's not looking like it's going to happen. Bummer. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows one year later on December 17, 2027.

Marvel Studios Hall H Status Revealed for 2025 San Diego Comic-Con
Marvel Studios' status for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con has been revealed, as has their plans for their legendary Hall H panels. According to a new report from THR's Heat Vision newsletter, Marvel will not be hosting a panel at Hall H this year at San Diego Comic-Con. With The Fantastic Four: First Steps set to release on the Friday of SDCC and Avengers: Doomsday now releasing closer to the end of 2026, Marvel seems to be taking a one-year break from their infamous panels. THR's reporting notes that the thinking within the company is that, with multiple films in production and set to release so close to the event, it didn't feel like the right time to have a panel. That doesn't mean they won't be at conventions, though. Marvel will be at this weekend's CCXP Mexico, and will still have a massive presence at SDCC, with panels focused on comics, games, and more still planned. Although Marvel Studios is usually a mainstay at SDCC, they have missed the show a handful of times. In 2011, the company sat out of a Hall H panel with The Avengers in production. 2015 and 2018 also marked years the studio stayed home, and then in 2020, 2021, and 2023, the company was away from the convention due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Hollywood strikes, respectively. Last year, Marvel Studios returned to Hall H in glorious fashion. Not only did Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman appear, but the company also announced Avengers: Doomsday in a major way, with Robert Downey Jr. revealing he would be Doctor Doom at the end. Additionally, 'Avengers: Doomsday' has been pushed to December 2026, meaning that the cast is currently filming and Marvel has another SDCC before the film will be released in theaters. That being said, this doesn't mean that Marvel will be completely absent from SDCC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they will still have "numerous panels about comics, games and more" as well as a "fully redesigned and immersive booth that leans into the release of Fantastic Four." On top of that, Marvel was missing in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2023 due to the Actors and Writers strikes. Even though this isn't unprecedented, it's still surprising to see Marvel taking such a big step back. Time will tell who will move in to take the highly coveted spot.
