One dead, two wounded including a 2-year-old in Hammond shooting: HPD
HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — One man is dead and two people, including a 2-year-old, are wounded after a shooting in Hammond on Monday, May 12, according to the Hammond Police Department. Man sentenced in fatal crash involving WGNO Sports Producer The HPD reported that officers responded to a call of a shooting in a parking lot at 1001 North Morrison Blvd. around 2:48 a.m., where they found a 23-year-old, a 22-year-old and a 2-year-old child. They were taken to a hospital, where the 23-year-old, identified by police as Bradley Blunt, later died. The 22-year-old's and the 2-year-old's injuries are non-life-threatening at this time, police said. HPD officers said 23-year-old Janvourian Franklin was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. He faces a charge of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm. Man dead following Chalmette motel shooting Hammond police also stated that 20-year-old Demetriane Anderson, who has reportedly been identified as Franklin's sister, was arrested in connection with the case after additional investigation. HPD officials said Anderson faces a charge of principal to first-degree murder and three counts of principal to attempted first-degree murder. Suspect wanted in reported Hammond area rape, kidnapping
HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — The Hammond Police Department has identified the suspect in an alleged kidnapping that happened on March 20. Baton Rouge man wanted, accused of kidnapping ex-girlfriend
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana State Police is looking for a man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend. According to police, officers with the Hammond Police Department started an investigation on Thursday in connection to a kidnapping. During the investigation, a witness told HPD officers his sister had been abducted by her ex-boyfriend Jarvis Buchanan, 21, of Baton Rouge. Buchanan is accused of going to T-Mobile in the 1720 block of West Thomas Street to locate the victim. Buchanan reportedly grabbed the victim and forced her into the passenger seat of his vehicle. The two left the area. Detectives determined that Buchanan was in the Baton Rouge/Gonzales area. Officers found Buchanan's car around Gonzales. LSP tried to conduct a traffic stop, but it led to a police chase. Police said the chase ended in Lutcher and Buchanan fled into the woods. The victim was found in the passenger seat and is now safe. Buchanan has not been caught at this time and is a wanted fugitive. He is wanted on charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated criminal damage. Man tased by police during traffic stop, drug bust: Hammond Police
HAMMOND, La, (WGNO) — A Ponchatoula man is facing multiple charges following a Feb. 10 incident. According to the Hammond Police Department, on that Monday night, officers patrolling near Magazine Street conducted a license plate check on a red Nissan van, discovering the driver had an outstanding felony warrant. An ambulance was called, and McCaskey was taken to North Oaks Medical Center for treatment. Ponchatoula man arrested in Hammond drug bust
HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — A Ponchatoula man has been arrested following a drug bust that occurred in Hammond on Wednesday, Feb. 5. According to the Hammond Police Department, 51-year-old Thomas 'TJ' Joseph was investigated by detectives at a RaceTrac gas station on Highway 190 West. Bogalusa man found guilty of distributing cocaine Detectives say they saw Joseph allegedly selling drugs, later identified as methamphetamine. Joseph was arrested and searched. During the search, police say they found a 'large sum of money,' as well as cocaine on both him and the vehicle involved in the transaction. Joseph is already a convicted felon who was on parole for drug charges.
