Two from Surat bag AIR-1 in CMA final, intermediate
Surat/Vadodara: Two students from The Institute of Cost Management Accountants of India (ICMAI) Surat South Gujarat chapter secured All India Rank 1 in the June 2025 cost management accountants (CMA) final intermediate exams. The ICMAI declared the results on Monday, with six students from the chapter placing in the top 50 of the Intermediate exam and five in the top 50 of the final exam. CMA Kishor Vaghela, chairman of the Surat South Gujarat chapter, said, "Out of 579 Intermediate exam candidates, 96 passed both groups and 47 passed a single group. In the final exam, 161 students appeared, with 40 passing both groups and 20 passing a single group. Surat recorded a pass rate of 25% for Intermediate and 37% for final exams." In Vadodara, 18 students qualified to become cost management accountants (CMAs), while 54 others cleared their intermediate examinations. A city girl, Niyati Khandelwal, also bagged AIR 21 in intermediate exams in which group II recorded the highest success rate at 31.11%, with 70 of 225 candidates clearing the paper. Group I achieved a pass percentage of 12.11% (23 of 190), while 16.48% of students cleared both groups together. While Niyati made her mark nationally, Divyani Vasant Solanki and Atharv Nandkumar Jadhav scored second and third highest in Vadodara. In the final examination, group III saw a pass percentage of 19.49%, the highest in the past five attempts. Group IV posted 11.54%, and 10.71% of candidates cleared both groups together. "Over the past five exam terms, intermediate group II has consistently outperformed other groups, while final group III's latest result marks a significant improvement," said Chairperson of the Baroda chapter of ICMAI, Amruta Vyas.

In the ICMAI June 2025 session, a total of 5,491 candidates cracked the Intermediate course, while 2,167 students earned the CMA Final certification. In the Intermediate Examination (Syllabus 2022), Group I saw 26,974 candidates appear, of which 2,864 passed, marking a pass rate of 10.62 per cent. On the other hand, the group II had 15,333 candidates, with 4,664 passing, resulting in a 30.42 per cent success rate. According to ICMAI's qualifying standards, candidates are required to obtain a minimum of 40 per cent in each paper and an overall aggregate of 50 per cent across all non-exempted papers to pass a group. If a candidate does not clear the group but scores 60 per cent or higher in any individual paper, they will be granted an exemption from retaking that paper in the next exam cycle. To calculate the aggregate in future attempts, the marks for the exempted paper will be treated as 50 per cent. The CMA programme, administered by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), is held twice annually—in June and December. Notably, the CMA Foundation results for the June 2025 session were declared on July 8, with the merit list featuring top performers such as Riya Poddar from Howrah, who secured the first rank. In the previous year's CMA Intermediate results, the pass rate for Group I alone was 16.10 per cent, while Group II alone saw a pass rate of 28.69 per cent. Additionally, 9.89 per cent of candidates cleared either one of the groups, and 17.77per cent successfully passed both.
