Gen Zer To Bring Birthday Cake for Uncle, No One Prepared for What Arrives

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The surprise cake that a Gen Zer picked out for his uncle's birthday party has left viewers on Reddit in stitches. The college student's dad had taken to the platform under u/watchthisorthat on May 23 to share what his son had presented to him and his brother at the event. "I asked my college age son to pick up a cake for my brother's birthday (his uncle)," the Reddit user said in the post. "We are having a lot of people over including kids and grandparents. "He is not getting married and he isn't gay." Accompanying the text was an image of the cake. White and rectangular in shape, with cream-shaded icing, an italic text on the front of the cake read: "Congrats on the gay marriage." The post quickly went viral on the platform, amassing more than 72,000 upvotes and 2,600 comments to date, with many Reddit users sharing their lighthearted takes on the prank or poking fun at the Reddit user's son's decision. Several viewers shared how they would react if met with a similar prank on their own special day, or what they think happened between the family after the post gained traction online. "I bet that kid is still laughing," one viewer said. "Bonus points if the son announces his gay marriage on his birthday," another added. "I'm not gay, but if my nephew got me this cake unprompted, I'd be laughing too," a third viewer shared. "I am gay and if my nephew got me this cake I would be very impressed since he's a toddler," another commented. "Bro is getting a whole pride parade for his bday," another viewer joked, while another added: "That's when you get a 'congrats you're expecting' cake and everything thinks there's a baby, always up the joke." Getty Images "I would be rolling if this happened to me," another said. "I would also know that I did a good job as an uncle teaching my nephews not to take life too seriously." "I'm still laughing and I don't even know them," another added. "I mean this is sincerely hilarious," another said. "Bet he doesn't get asked to do any more errands." "My actually gay brother always gives cards for the wrong occasion," a different viewer commented. "It's your birthday? Here's a condolences card. Happy Mother's Day? Here's an oddly specific 8th grade graduation card. He once gave my preschool aged (at the time) son a Father's Day card for his birthday. It's silly and harmless. I wouldn't have a problem with this cake at all. I'd think it was hilarious and I'd come close to hyperventilating with excessive laughter." Will Friedle Doesn't Celebrate Mother's Day With Wife

As you probably know, it was Mother's Day on Sunday, a day when people everywhere express their gratitude and appreciation for the moms in their lives. However, Boy Meets World star Will Friedle left his podcast cohosts absolutely speechless when he admitted that he doesn't mark Mother's Day with his wife, Susan, who is a mom of one. For reference, Will, 48, married Susan in 2016, and while they have no children together, he is stepfather to her daughter, Lexi, who was 21 years old when he and Susan first started dating. During Monday's episode of his podcast, Pod Meets World, Will's cohost Danielle Fishel brought up Mother's Day — and he became noticeably flustered when both Danielle and cohost Rider Strong told him that he should be honoring his wife. 'Wait, did I have to get stuff for Sue every… I don't get stuff for Sue on Mother's Day, am I supposed to?' Will began, and when Rider asked if he at least says 'Happy Mother's Day,' Will confessed: 'Probably not? I don't know!''Wow,' Rider replied, with Danielle exclaiming: 'Will! Did you not say 'Happy Mother's Day' today? Do you celebrate the holiday for her at all?!''I say it to my mom,' Will repeated, while Rider told him: 'You should acknowledge it.' Will argued that Susan's daughter is 35 years old now, and when Danielle retorted: 'It doesn't matter, she's still a mother,' Will wearily replied: 'I know, I never think about it, I guess.' 'You guys don't do anything?' Danielle asked, audibly still stunned. 'Does Susan spend every Mother's Day with Lexi?'Will said that she didn't, and Danielle, who has two sons with her husband Jensen Karp, followed up: 'OK, let's say they're not spending it together, what do you do for your wife, Susan, for Mother's Day?''I let her cook me my favorite meal,' Will joked, quickly adding: 'I'm kidding!'But Danielle and Rider still couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that he doesn't acknowledge Mother's Day at all with Susan, with Danielle warning: 'Will, if this is not a bit…''I've never thought about it!' Will insisted, becoming more and more flustered. 'Where it's like… It's Mother's… Lexi's 35! I wish my mom a happy Mother's Day, send flowers or do something, but I worship my wife every other day — I don't worship her any differently on Mother's Day!" Rider, who has a 9-year-old son with his wife, Alex, explained: 'Mother's Day changes meaning, because it used to just be a time for me to call my mom, and it became a time for me to call my mom but also acknowledge my wife.' 'But that makes more sense, you've got a little kid, you live together with the kid — by the time I met Lexi she was already 21,' Will reasoned, but Rider argued: 'Right, but it's about her identity as a mother, it's not about my relationship to her being a mother. It's just about celebrating motherhood.' Rider and Danielle's reactions appeared to strike a chord with Will, and he ended up saying: 'I'm going to have to celebrate Sue, I owe her retroactively. I owe her a bunch of Mother's Day stuff!''You do, you owe her a whole bunch of nice little things,' Danielle agreed, prompting Will to plead: 'I give her nice little things all the time! I enjoy giving her nice things, like, worshipping her on just a regular Wednesday. I like to be like: 'Hey, babe, this is for you because you're awesome,' as opposed to: 'This is the day I'm supposed to do this.''And when Danielle related this theory to Valentine's Day, Will said that he and Susan 'never celebrate Valentine's Day." I'm genuinely curious to know what you make of Will not celebrating his wife on Mother's Day — let me know in the comments below!

Brooklyn passionately kisses Nicola and makes clear stand despite family feud

Brooklyn Beckham passionately kissed his actress wife, Nicola Peltz, as they put on a united front at a party amid their reported family feud. The duo, who matched in all-black outfits as they attended an AirBnb party this week, looked hopelessly in love as they embraced and kissed while posing for many photos. "Big thanks to @airbnb for having me at their Summer Release," Nicola captioned her post for her 3.1million followers. "They're rolling out some amazing new experiences and you can book mine on May 15th! We'll be mixing cocktails, plating perfection, and experiencing the heat of my @cloud23 hot sauce." She shared a slew of loving snaps, including one of her sitting on Brooklyn's lap as he wrapped his hands around her waist. There was also a picture of aspiring chef Brooklyn planting a kiss on her forehead as she beamed for the camera. Brooklyn also took to his Instagram page to share a carousel of similar photos as he used the caption to promote Airbnb. The former aspiring photographer, 26, and billionaire heiress Nicola, 30, have kept their distance from the Beckham clan both online and in the real world over recent works, with the pair even snubbing David Beckham's 50th birthday earlier this month. The family issues with Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly started from Romeo Beckham, 22, finding love with Kim Turnbull, 24, who is thought to be one of Brooklyn's exes. Things got so bad in the family that Brooklyn had been ignoring his parents attempts to chat. It comes after the married couple, who are locked in a bitter feud with Brooklyn's parents and siblings, recently enjoyed a star-studded night out with Nicola's brother and pals. Amid the family rift, David seemingly tried to make things better by reaching out as he shared a united post on American Mother's Day - which is almost two months after the annual holiday was observed in the UK. Despite being British, David took advantage of the symbolic day to post a photo of wife Victoria with all four of their offspring. The iconic footballer posted a throwback snap of his wife Victoria, cradling their daughter Harper Seven as a baby on her chest, sided by their sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz hugging the singer-turned-fashion designer. With the sweet photo, he penned: "Happy Mother's Day to the best mommy. To all our friends in the U.S. Happy Mother's Day." Intriguingly, he made it a point to tag his sons, including Brooklyn. Fans are speculating whether this could be the footballer's way of reaching out to his son through the Mother's Day tribute.

Man charged years after girlfriend's death investigation went cold, IN cops say

Brittney Boman died months after she was shot in 2022 in the woods, but she told police she didn't see who fired the gun, Indiana officials and media outlets said. The 29-year-old woman's case went cold after her death on Dec. 30, 2022, nearly three months after the Oct. 2 shooting in Henryville, Indiana State Police said in a May 13 news release. Boman was hiding in the woods from her boyfriend when she was shot, WLKY reported. 'Brittney loved her family and siblings fiercely, and was always very loyal. She was every dog's friend,,' her obituary read. The investigation reopened in December 2024 when it was transferred to state police. After 'numerous' interviews, a suspect was identified. Derek Pixley, 33, was arrested on May 12 and charged with murder in connection with the shooting, Indiana State Police said. 'It was Derek. … A battle has been won, but not the war,' her mother, Shawnee Edmiston Goodman, said in a May 13 Facebook post. Almost one year prior to her death, Boman gave birth to her son Camden, a stillborn baby boy, her mother said. Camden's obituary identified Pixley, the suspect, as the father. 'After the baby, I brought her home, she was here a day and then he showed up and they left,' Edmiston told WHAS. 'I don't even think she followed up with the doctors afterwards. I think maybe over the last year I saw her a handful of times.' Boman had taken out an emergency protective order against her boyfriend, media outlets reported, but she still lived with him. The day before Pixley's arrest, the mother mourned the loss of her daughter on Mother's Day. 'I have been waiting for a phone call that will never come at midnight again,' Edmiston Goodman wrote in a May 11 post. 'Brittney always wanted to be the 1st kid to wish me Happy Mother's Day. Actually, she wanted to be the first to wish Happy Anything. You were never an afterthought if she loved you.' Pixley is being held in Clark County Jail, state police said. The investigation is ongoing. Henryville is about a 95-mile drive southeast from Indianapolis.
