Man fined for making false police report on missing car
The Kota Kinabalu Court Complex. KOTA KINABALU (Aug 11): An unemployed man was fined RM2,000, in default, seven months' jail by a Magistrate's Court here for making a false police report. Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin imposed the sentence on Hariff Nazwan Jasofa, 30, after he pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 182 of the Penal Code. The indictment provides for a jail term of up to six months or a fine, or both, upon conviction. Hariff admitted to make a false report by stating that a car in his possession was missing. He committed the offence at a police station here on July 1. The court heard that investigation revealed that the car was actually not missing but was allegedly seized by the police for investigation into a house trespass case.
