India Women To Play Australia In Three ODIs In September Ahead Of World Cup
Last Updated: India Women will face Australia in a crucial three-match ODI series in Chennai, starting September 14, ahead of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. In what can come as a crucial preparatory series for the Indian women, their nemesis Australia will tour for a three-match ODI series, scheduled around nine days before the expected start of the much-awaited ODI World Cup, starting on Sunday, September 14 in Chennai. The second ODI will be played on September 17 and the third on Saturday, September 20. Although the official schedule of the World Cup hasn't been announced yet, it is expected to start around September 29. Chepauk returns to hosting a women's ODI for the first time in 18 years, when India, New Zealand, England and Australia competed in a quadrangular series. BCCI announces fixtures for Australia Women's tour to tour will serve as crucial preparation ahead of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. The three ODIs will be played at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. #INDvAUS — BCCI Women (@BCCIWomen) May 29, 2025 Australia won the series while India finished a lowly fourth at home. India and Australia played three ODIs in December in Albion and Perth and were whitewashed there, in what came as a massive thrashing for the ODI World Cup hosts. The ongoing season has been good for India in ODIs. After beating Ireland at home four months back, they went on to win the tri-series in Sri Lanka, defeating the hosts in the final. Australia last played the women's Ashes, where they won the ODI series 3-0. Next up, Harmanpreet Kaur's side will tour England next month, playing five T20Is followed by three ODIs, also crucial to their preparation for the World Cup. India, the hosts and Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka had earned direct entry into the World Cup, while Bangladesh and Pakistan got there after topping a qualifying event earlier this year. Pakistan's games at the ODI World Cup, however, might be played at a neutral venue by the BCCI-PCB agreement made earlier this year before the Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board was the host of that tournament, but all India games, including the one against Pakistan, were played in Dubai. First Published:

Shafali Verma and Sneh Rana have earned T20I recalls as India have named full-strength women's squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of England, which begins on June 28. The tour comprises five T20Is and three ODIs, with Harmanpreet Kaur set to lead the side across both squads, announced by the Women's Selection Committee on Thursday, mark a return to several familiar faces, while also springing a few surprises with some notable omissions. Fast bowler Renuka Singh and off-spinner Shreyanka Patil have missed out, with no official word yet on the reasons behind their returns to the T20I setup on the back of a strong campaign in the Women's Premier League. Opening for Delhi Capitals, she scored 304 runs at a strike rate of 152.76, forming a destructive partnership with skipper Meg Lanning. While the Capitals reached their third successive WPL final, they fell short once again. Despite DC's heartbreaking loss to Mumbai Indians in the final, Shafali's consistency with the bat helped make a comeback in the Indian limited-overs Satghare, who made her international debut against Ireland earlier this year, has earned a recall and finds a place in both the ODI and T20I squads—unlike Shafali, who has been included in only one format. Kranti Gaud replaces Kashvee Gautam, while Sayali is the other new inclusion. Kashvee was part of the India women's squad for the recently concluded tri-series in Sri T20I squad, in particular, has undergone significant changes.
