'Mum and dad, you gave us life and cared for us no matter what. 'I cannot tell you how blessed we all are to have you in our lives x.' But a contact close to his parents claims Brooklyn did not tell his family he was coming. MY VIEW By Ellie Henman AS the saying goes, 'A son is a son till he takes him a wife, a daughter is a daughter all her life.' No-one is feeling that more acutely right now than Victoria Beckham. But she's not alone. My own experience of witnessing my mother's pain and confusion as her son slowly became more isolated from us, his blood family, was, and still is, dreadful. Things all start off rosy and then, bit by bit, the relationship gets chipped away to dust. Contact becomes so fleeting that conversations about that person stop because it's all just too painful to keep dredging up. My brother and I now send a cursory text once a year to wish one another a happy birthday - and we only do it to keep my mother happy. I last saw him at her wedding in 2018 when we walked her down the aisle and the next time will probably be in that same church on a far sadder occasion. Victoria and David are facing years of anguish unless Brooklyn steps up and takes control. He's had a dramatic week celebrating his 50th birthday, which saw numerous lavish events and a family feud erupt over the absence of his son Brooklyn from all of them. But David Beckham got back to work on Thursday as he opened Nespresso's new flagship boutique in London with some celebrity pals. The former footballer donned a smart navy suit with thin blue pinstripes, adding a black t-shirt to his slick look. He accessorised with a dark brown belt and sported some tan trainers with a white sole. The event was held at the coffee brand's new location in Covent Garden and David was joined by a host of celebrities and internet personalities. It comes after the former England captain shared a sweet tribute to his wife Victoria for 'always making him laugh' as he shared even more snaps from his star-studded birthday bash. The footballer celebrated the occasion with a glitzy party at London's Core restaurant in Notting Hill, with A-List pals Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria and Guy Ritchie among those in attendance. Taking to Instagram to share a gallery of black and white images, David couldn't contain his smile as wife Victoria gave an incredible speech. Former Spice Girl Victoria, 51 - now a successful fashion designer - looked typically stylish in a draped metallic dress and perspex heels while rubbing shoulders with fellow guests at the exclusive gathering.
