Georgia baseball predictions for the Athens Regional

Georgia baseball predictions for the Athens Regional The Athens Regional features the No. 7 national seed Georgia Bulldogs along with the Duke Blue Devils, Oklahoma State Cowboys and Binghamton Bearcats. Georgia leads the nations in home runs with 133 and has the No. 2 RPI in the country. The Bulldogs have not lost a series at home all season despite playing in baseball's top conference, the SEC. Georgia is going to be a tough out at home, but the Bulldogs are far from invincible. Georgia does not have an elite pitching staff and has struggled hitting against left-handed pitchers this season. Oklahoma State left-handed pitcher Harrison Bodendorf, a first-team All-Big 12 selection, is someone Georgia would like to avoid having to face. Duke and Oklahoma State both won their respective conferences last season and made the NCAA Tournament, so the Athens Regional has a lot of experience and talent. Athens Regional prediction We predict that the No. 1 seed Georgia Bulldogs (42-15, 18-12 in SEC) will beat No. 4 seeded Binghamton (29-24, 13-11 in American East) on Friday, May 30 to open the regional. Later on Friday, we predict that No. 2 Duke (37-19, 17-13 in ACC) will beat No. 3 Oklahoma State (28-23, 15-12 in Big 12) in a tightly contested game. Weather could cause a few delays on Friday, but it should be good for the rest of the weekend. On Saturday, we project that Georgia will defeat Duke and that Oklahoma State will eliminate Binghamton. On Sunday, we predict that Duke beats Oklahoma State to stave off elimination and then defeats Georgia to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the regional. We have Georgia winning in a winner-take-all Game 7 against Duke on Monday to advance from the regional in dramatic fashion. We predict that Georgia will play the No. 10 national seed Ole Miss Rebels in the Athens Super Regional in the next round of the NCAA Tournament.

Ranking the four teams in the Athens Regional

Ranking the four teams in the Athens Regional The No. 7 national seed Georgia Bulldogs will host the Athens Regional. Georgia is the No. 7 national seed in the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive year. The Bulldogs are looking to advance to the super regionals for a second consecutive year. The Athens Regional will start on Friday, May 30. Georgia opens the NCAA Tournament against Binghamton. The winner of the Georgia-Binghamton game will play the winner of the Duke versus Oklahoma State game on Saturday. The losers of the two opening games will face off in an elimination game on Saturday. The winner of the Athens Regional will advance to play the winner of the Oxford Regional in a three-game series in the super regionals. The Oxford Regional features No. 10 national seed Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky and Murray State. Ranking the four teams in the Athens Regional 1. Georgia Bulldogs Record: 42-15, 18-12 in SEC Home record: 29-4 RPI: No. 2 Georgia baseball has significant NCAA Tournament experience and leads the nation in home runs with 133. The Bulldogs will be tough to beat at home. Georgia has not lost a home series all season and played in the most difficult conference in the nation. The SEC had 13 teams make the NCAA Tournament. Record: 37-19, 17-13 in ACC Away record: 7-9 (1-1 neutral) RPI: No. 31 Duke baseball has made the NCAA Tournament three straight seasons. The Blue Devils won the 2024 ACC Championship. Duke put together an impressive record in one of the country's toughest baseball conferences. Duke won a three-game regular season series at No. 11 national seed Clemson, which shows that they can beat anybody in the country. Record: 28-23, 15-12 in Big 12 Away record: 5-12 (5-5 neutral) RPI: No. 44 Oklahoma State was one of the better teams in the Big 12 this spring. The Cowboys won the Big 12 Tournament in 2024 and hosted a regional last year, so Oklahoma State has a lot of NCAA Tournament experience on its roster. Oklahoma State left-handed pitcher Harrison Bodendorf was named first-team All-Big and was named as the conference's co-newcomer of the year. 4. Binghamton Bearcats Record: 29-24, 13-11 in American East Away record: 11-17 (5-1 neutral) RPI: No. 163 Binghamton baseball won the American East over the Bryant Bulldogs in extra innings. Binghamton is 8-3 over their last 11 games and enters the Athens Regional with some serious momentum. "All year long I wasn't sure how good this team was, but I knew we had tremendous spirit and fight," said Binghamton manager Tim Sinicki. "Yes we are talented, but we always found ways to win ball games and never gave up. I'm so proud of the kids. It's been a long week in beautiful Maine, but we're happy to be coming home with a championship." Notably, Binghamton split (2-2) a series at Missouri earlier this year, so they do have experience against SEC foes. However, Missouri (16-39, 3-27 in SEC) had an awful season and was by far the worst team in the SEC. Georgia swept Missouri (3-0) in early May. Our Athens Regional rankings also reflect the seeding the regional.
