Move over Harry and Meghan: Britain's real royal family are now dominating the US headlines
So long, and thanks for all the jam. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and queen of Montecito, recently announced that she is reimagining As Ever, her raspberry spread and 'flower sprinkle' business. In an interview with Fast Company, which Meghan conducted in fluent buzzword, the actor and entrepreneur said she is thinking bigger than jarred goods and partnering with Netflix to bring forth a vision in which 'content and commerce meet, not in a product placement way, but rather in an ideological way'. (I think the ideology she is referencing here is capitalism). Meghan is now involved with so many different projects that she notes: 'If I had to write a résumé, I don't know what I would call myself.' It looks as though her husband, Henry Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor, doesn't know what to call himself either. The big Harry news from recent days is that the Duke of Sussex had a moment where he considered changing his double-barrelled last name to 'Spencer', in a nod to his late mother and a middle finger to the rest of his family. While the Sussexes seem to be having something of an identity crisis, they are both still generating headlines. But not quite so many as they used to: Harry-and-Meghan-mania seems to have heavily subsided since Harry's big tell-all, Spare, came out in 2023. Which was only to be expected. We know all there is to know about Harry's frostbitten penis and drug habits; now only dull dregs of gossip remain. Meghan's Netflix show has been widely written off as 'boring'. The US media, at least, seem to be getting a little tired of the pair. As the Sussexes become old news, attention has been turning to Britain's other US-based royal family: the Beckhams. Or, more accurately, the Peltz Beckhams: Brooklyn Beckham (David and Victoria's eldest son) and Nicola Peltz (daughter of a US billionaire) combined their last names when they got married in 2022. 'Not many guys take their wives' names,' Brooklyn said at the time. 'So, I was just like, 'Why not?'' He also got about 70 tattoos in honour of Nicola, including the word 'married'. Explaining the inspiration for that tattoo, Brooklyn told USA Today: 'I kind of was just like, 'Oh, we're married, why not?'' Despite the fact that he now owns an artisanal hot sauce business (why not?), Brooklyn is one of the blandest people on the planet. So is his wife, Nicola, who is a film-maker and actor. (Wikipedia, in a savage move, says that she was cast in a role in The Last Airbender 'at the insistence of her father, who was a producer on the film'.) And yet the pair now seem to be absolutely everywhere and mired in controversy. On Tuesday they were the focus of a Glamour cover story that called them 'the world's most talked-about couple'. The talking isn't entirely complimentary: for months there has been rabid speculation about a feud between the Peltz Beckhams and the wider Beckhams. David and Victoria don't like Nicola! Victoria sabotaged Nicola's wedding! Brooklyn skipped all three of his dad's 50th birthday celebrations! Brooklyn is feuding with his younger brother Romeo because Romeo is dating Brooklyn's ex-girlfriend! And on it goes. I won't go through every bit of gossip, but there are striking parallels between the Peltz-Beckham drama and the Sussexes. You've got the American actor wife that the famous British family seems to have a problem with. You've got two brothers feuding. You've got misogynistic speculation that a dim but affable man is being 'controlled' by his ambitious wife. The parallels don't seem to have bypassed the foursome. Last month there were tabloid reports that the Peltz Beckhams had dinner with the Sussexes in Montecito, where they bonded over everything they had in common. 'Nicola and Meghan also had a bit of a 'deep'n'meaningful' as obviously both women have been positioned in the media as home-wreckers,' a source told the Sun. Over the weekend it was also reported that the Peltz Beckhams have now hired a British lawyer who had previously worked with the Sussexes to help with their 'reputation management'. While Brooklyn and Nicola seem keen to model themselves on the Sussexes, I rather think Harry should brand himself like Beckham. Can you imagine how wound up all the Harry-haters would be if he got 70 Meghan-related tattoos? Even better: if he's still keen on changing his name, he should forget Spencer and simply become Harry Markle. Far more modern of him than clinging on to his titles. As Brooklyn would say: why not? David Beckham meets King Charles amid reports of Sussexes meeting with Brooklyn and Nicola
Digital Reporter Reilly Sullivan reacts to David Beckham's meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Chelsea Flower Show, just days after reports surfaced of the Sussexes spending time with Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz. 'As we know, things are getting very interesting between the Royal Family and the Beckhams,' Mr Sullivan told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. 'We had Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham, who are allegedly having some issues with David and Victoria. They reportedly met with Harry and Meghan recently. 'That was, I'm sure, on everyone's minds, and then just a week after that, we've got David with the King and Queen. 'The timing of it was almost freakish.'

Why ‘blindsided' David & Victoria Beckham will have ‘shuddered in horror' at Brooklyn's secret meet with Harry & Meghan
WHEN David and Victoria Beckham learned their precious eldest son was socialising with Meghan Markle, how their hearts must have sunk. This, after all, is a woman they once considered a friend. 7 7 A woman they went out of their way to look out for — and who turned her back on them the moment someone wealthier came along. A woman who fell out with them after accusing Victoria of leaking stories about her. The news that Meghan, alongside docile husband Harry, is befriending Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz would, surely, have caused the Beckhams to shudder in horror. Friends of David and Victoria were apparently stunned by The Sun's revelations — confirmed overnight by Meghan's most trusted US publication, People magazine — that Brooklyn had enjoyed an intimate dinner party at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex 's £11million Montecito mansion. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall at that 22-person gathering. I'm told: 'David and Victoria were blindsided by the news — they didn't see it coming. 'Of course it's a bit weird for them as they used to socialise with Meghan and Harry, and now their boy is doing it. 'David has no problem with Harry and has always acted very graciously towards him — even after the fall-out with Victoria — and they still communicate occasionally. 'Wouldn't go nuclear' 'However, once burned . . . 'Naturally they therefore feel less warmly towards Meghan. They think she has acted truly awfully at times. 'The last thing they need is for her to be pouring bile into Brooklyn's ear, telling him to cast his parents out, as she has done with her own dad. 'What was supposed to be a very private family feud is rapidly escalating and obviously it's incredibly frustrating for the family.' While the unlikely quartet are understood to have swapped phone numbers on the night, it is not known if they made any further plans to meet up. Intriguingly, Meghan's PR team appeared to confirm The Sun's report, but were quick to distance themselves — perhaps to ensure they did not look like the source of the leaked original story. The guidance was that the Peltz-Beckhams attended but were 'not directly' invited by the former royals, rather by shared mutual acquaintances. Friends of the younger couple also confirmed the story, praising Meghan and Harry's 'kindness and warmth'. There has been no official comment from either side. Sources who attended the dinner, arranged by the Paramount TV network, say the Peltz-Beckhams and Harkles 'got on really well'. Presumably another huge fear for Team Beckham is that Brooklyn 'does a Harry' and writes an explosive memoir. He may only be 26, but Brooklyn has lived an extraordinarily privileged life and has seen the A-list celebrity circuit first-hand. Harry's whinge-fest Spare was a Sunday Times bestseller and, well, unsparing in its criticism of certain members of the Royal Family. I'm told, though, that an auto-biography 'is not on Brooklyn's radar, even though it would have some incredibly juicy chapters'. A source added: 'It just isn't his style — he would never do that to his family. 'He still loves and cherishes them and is desperate for reconciliation. He wouldn't go nuclear like Harry and write a tell-all tome.' While Meghan is an outspoken anti-Trump campaigner, Nicola's billionaire tycoon dad Nelson is friends with the President. However, his daughter has made it known she is not political. Our insider says she does not socialise with The Donald in 'any way, shape or form, and there was no political conflict whatsoever' on the night. Meghan was instead 'kind' to Transformers actress Nicola, sympathising over her media portrayal as a home-wrecker — something the Peltz-Beckhams are said to be infuriated by. However, one person Meghan was famously less kind to is Nicola's mother-in-law Victoria. The Spice Girl -turned-designer was, slightly unbelievably, accused by Meghan of 'leaking stories' to The Sun in 2017. It came after Victoria, 51, recommended a series of beauty experts for the former Suits star to use during a trip to London. When details of her suggestions were printed, Meghan went ballistic, believing Posh was behind the leak. She even had Harry call up David to broach the subject. Naturally, David was seething on his wife's behalf. Says a source eight years on: 'I mean, the notion Victoria Beckham — one of the planet's most famous and influential women — would be cold-calling The Sun and giving them a scoop is utterly preposterous. 'It would have been funny had Meghan not made Prince Harry, fifth in line to the British throne, call up David and effectively bollock him. 'It was an excruciating call, as you can imagine, but David was incredibly sanguine and gentle in response. 'He did not rise to the bait but, privately, it was the beginning of the end of relations. The trust had gone. 'Meghan went on to ask Victoria for some discount clothes — a report denied by the Palace — and so she did end up paying and wearing some of Victoria's designs. 'And let's not forget the Beckhams loaned Meghan and Harry their Beverly Hills mansion when they started going out to help them avoid the paparazzi. They didn't pay a penny, and DVB covered the cost of everything, including security.' The couple then went on to upgrade from the Beckhams, borrowing the £18million, 12-bathroom Beverly Hills pad of producer Tyler Perry after leaving the UK five years ago. Our source continues: 'David and Victoria have seen the other side to Meghan and have learned their lesson. They hope anything Nicola or Brooklyn said in private won't be used against them.' 'Social butterfly' Although they were still invited to Harry and Meghan's 2018 wedding, Meghan reportedly decided to 'punish' the Beckhams by not inviting them to the evening reception. To rub salt into the wound, celebs including George and Amal Clooney — who they had never met — were present. Harry also snubbed David at the 2018 Invictus Games, supposedly at the behest of Meghan. Another of the guests at the recent dinner party, meanwhile, was Paramount boss Brian Robbins. He has become close to Meghan and Harry, and much of the evening was seen as a 'networking event', another source adds. With her Netflix deal hanging by a thread, some believe she is desperate to land a seven-figure contract with Paramount. A source adds: 'Brian adores Meghan and naturally will listen to any great ideas or formats she has. 'Meghan is a consummate social butterfly and was on great form, working the room. 'And while she may have been hard work in the past, she has been deeply humbled by the past two years and is a lot warmer and kinder nowadays. People don't always know that. 'Brian, for his part, was also impressed with Nicola, and they had a decent chat.' This latest transatlantic twist to the Beckham tale comes days after Kate Middleton appeared to express her support for David and Victoria. The Princess of Wales stepped out in a £1,300 olive green VB suit — something pals believe was a 'deliberate marker'. She paid for the suit herself and did not ask for a freebie, I'm told. An insider adds: 'Kate knew exactly what she was doing when she wore the suit. 'She knows her every sartorial choice is forensically analysed and dissected by both the media and fans online. 'She's a smart woman and compassionate to what Victoria, as a mother, is going through. 'David used to be really close to Harry but has gravitated towards William now. 'They are good mates and William adores David, and credits him for helping him navigate fame. 'He has become a pseudo big brother figure and William has been reading about the similarities between David's situation and that of his brother with Meghan.' Certainly, though, the Duchess has form when it comes to alienating her inner circle. As well as working her way through numerous staff, with reports suggesting she 'bullied' some — accusations she vehemently denies — she has cast off her dad, Thomas Markle, livid that he spoke to the media about her behaviour. (This despite the fact she went on Oprah to discuss her husband's family's alleged behaviour, while Harry himself recently enjoyed a much-criticised 30-minute vent to the BBC.) In reality, those exiled from Meghan's staff form an exclusive club — albeit one nobody would wish to be a member of. The Sussex Survivors Club was formed by members reportedly united in their 'trauma' of working with the couple. Some were even alleged to have been diagnosed with PTSD. While Victoria Beckham may not be a member, she certainly has cause to be cautious of her one-time pal. Whatever happens now, one thing is for certain — the heartbreaking Beckham family feud does not appear to be ending any day soon. 7 Prince Harry's 'snub' of David Beckham in Australia AFTER flying for 22 hours from London to Sydney at Prince Harry's request, David Beckham was puzzled why the prince had not met him. But the prince had had no plans to see the former England football captain, nor even of being pictured with him, claimed Tom Bower. It was October 2018, and Harry was hosting the Invictus Games. Since David had played a prominent role bringing the 2012 Olympics to Britain and an important part in the 2010 unsuccessful bid for the football World Cup, it seemed natural for Prince Harry to ask David to join him at the celebrated competition for injured servicemen. As a man who loved the royals, David would never refuse such an important request. But having flown half-way around the world, he was perplexed why officials after he arrived at the sporting venue were playing a dance to keep him happy, but away from Harry. She wanted no competition in the media from David, and especially not from his wife, Victoria. The reason for the distance was Meghan, the newly married Duchess of Sussex.
