The Indian Premier League (IPL) continues its meteoric rise, with its overall business value surging 12.9% to $18.5 billion, according to Houlihan Lokey's 2025 IPL Brand Valuation Study. The league's stand-alone brand value also grew 13.8% to $3.9 billion, underscoring its expanding commercial appeal. In a historic shift, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) emerged as the most valuable franchise with a brand value of $269 million, dethroning Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This comes on the back of RCB's maiden IPL title win in 2025. Mumbai Indians (MI) followed at $242 million, while CSK dropped to third at $235 million after a disappointing season. Punjab Kings (PBKS) was the biggest gainer, with a 39.6% jump in brand value to $141 million. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), winners of the 2024 season, ranked fourth at $227 million, benefiting from strong brand equity driven by star power and ownership. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stood fifth at $154 million, followed closely by Delhi Capitals (DC) at $152 million and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at $146 million. Gujarat Titans (GT), with $142 million brand value, and PBKS took the eighth and ninth spots, respectively, while Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) rounded out the top 10 with a brand value of $122 million. The league's financial muscle was further validated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) securing ₹1,485 crore from associate sponsors and a ₹2,500 crore, five-year title sponsorship extension with Tata Group. 'The IPL continues to set benchmarks in the sports business. Franchise valuations have soared, media rights deals have reached record highs, and brand partnerships have diversified across sectors,' commented Harsh Talikoti, director, financial and valuation advisory at Houlihan Lokey. 'The league's ability to attract global investors and sponsors reflects its status as a premier sports property with enduring appeal.'
