Wagle Ki Duniya: Sai Darshan Society conducts self-defence classes for women's safety
In the upcoming episodes of Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey, the narrative takes a socially relevant turn as the Sai Darshan Society introduces self-defence classes for women. The plot begins when young Kittu (Mahi Soni) expresses her wish to join a self-defence class. Initially, Dakku (Deepak Pareek) and Harshad (Amit Soni) downplay her desire, arguing that girls don't need to learn how to defend themselves. However, Rajesh Wagle (Sumeet Raghavan) provides a progressive perspective, asserting that every girl has the right to protect herself, just like any boy. A turning point comes when Sakhi (Chinmayee Salvi) and Gungun (Nandini Maurya) face harassment while commuting on a bus. This incident prompts Harshad to reevaluate his beliefs, ultimately acknowledging that Rajesh was right all along. In response, Sai Darshan Society brings in a martial arts trainer to conduct self-defence sessions for the women. As the men struggle with household chores, the women rise to the occasion and embrace the training. Together, they come up with a plan to ride the same bus again and confront the harassers directly. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Speaking about the track, Sumeet Raghvan, who plays Rajesh Wagle, shared, 'Rajesh Wagle is an inspiration in the way he consistently stands up for gender equality , whether at home or in society. Here too, he firmly believes that if girls want to learn self-defence, they not only have the right but also the need to do so. He believes girls should be whatever they want to be; strong, independent, and unafraid. As a father, while his instinct is to protect, he knows true protection lies in empowering them to protect themselves. This track is important, and I'm so glad the show is taking it up with such sensitivity. It's a conversation that needs to reach every household that safety and strength aren't just for boys — they're for everyone.' The show continues to win hearts with its family-oriented storytelling, while bravely spotlighting urgent social issues like women's safety and empowerment.

Terror rained from skies: TOI's Jaisalmer reporter recounts Pakistan drone horror
Congratulations! You have successfully cast your vote Login to view result JAISALMER: On Thursday night, as the clock struck 9pm, my life took a turn I had never anticipated. The serene border town of Jaisalmer was suddenly engulfed in chaos as drone attacks from Pakistan targeted air force bases and military stations in the nearby Pokhran began as a peaceful evening of prayer and family gathering turned into hours of terror and uncertainty as Pakistani drones launched a series of attacks on our border town of Jaisalmer.I was heading to join my family at the Chundhi Ganesh temple, located 12-km from the city, where they had gone for evening prayers at 7pm. Little did I know that this routine religious visit would transform into a night of chaos and fear for all of 9pm, as I reached Hanuman Chowk, the peace was shattered by a deafening blast overhead, followed by the unmistakable sound of gunfire. I immediately pulled over and looked skyward, my heart pounding as multiple explosions rocked the night air. Our anti-drone defense systems sprang into action, their rapid fire piercing the darkness as they attempted to neutralize the thoughts immediately turned to my family - my wife Shyama, our daughters-in-law, and children - all of whom were at the temple with my sister-in-law Chandrakala's family. The situation became even more complicated as I learned that my son Harshad was on a bus to Jaipur, now caught in the middle of this the city, panic spread like wildfire. Young vigilantes took control at major intersections, forcing vehicles to turn off their lights and threatening those who didn't comply with sticks. Their actions, though aggressive, were driven by the urgent need to prevent the city from becoming an easier next few hours became a careful orchestration of managing multiple crises. My family, stranded first at the temple and then at the Amarsagar Jain temple, faced renewed Pak attacks around 10pm. Heavy rain added to their ordeal as they sought shelter. When they finally attempted to return to the city, they were stopped by police at Moomal Chowk - a necessary but frustrating security measure that forced them to walk through the rain to Kanishka Restaurant, where they waited until I was coordinating with contacts to ensure my son Harshad's safety after he disembarked at Khetolai, 80-km from Jaisalmer. Through local connections, I managed to arrange overnight accommodation for him in Chandhan wasn't until 2am that all family members finally made it home safely. As a journalist, I've covered many challenging situations, but when your own family's safety is at stake during such attacks, the experience takes on a completely different dimension. This night will remain etched in our memories as a stark reminder of the precarious nature of life in a border incident has left me deeply shaken, both as a reporter and as a family man. It underscores the constant state of vigilance required in our region and the real impact of geopolitical tensions on ordinary citizens' lives.

TOI's Jaisalmer reporter recounts Pakistan drone horror
JAISALMER: Peace was what I wanted to pray for when I was looking to join my family Thursday at Chundhi GaneshTemple, 12km from Jaisalmer. Not long after that, though, I was caught in a crossfire - of blasts, gunfire and chaos. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Anything but peace. That was how the evening unfolded for me in this Rajasthan border city, engulfed in terror of Pakistani drone attacks near the high-security Pokhran area. My family was already at the temple, having gone there around 7pm. I set out to join them later and had just reached Hanuman Chowk, some distance from my home, around 9pm when I was halted by a hail of deafening blasts overhead, followed by the unmistakable rat-a-tat of gunfire. I pulled over and looked skyward, my heart pounding as multiple explosions shattered the air. Our anti-drone defence systems sprang into action, their rapid fire piercing the darkness as they attempted to neutralise the threats. My thoughts turned to my family. Matters got worse as I learned my son Harshad was on a bus to Jaipur, now caught in the middle of the crisis. Word about the drones spread like wildfire. So did panic. Youths took positions at major intersections, forcing vehicles to turn off lights and threatening those who didn't comply with sticks. Their actions, though aggressive, were driven by the need to protect the city from Pakistani projectiles. The next few hours were frenetic. My family left for home but faced renewed drone attacks around 10pm. This forced them to take shelter at Amarsagar Jain Temple. Heavy rain added to their ordeal. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now When they tried to return again, they were stopped by police at Moomal Chowk, on the outskirts. This was a frustrating, but necessary, security drill. They later made their way to a restaurant where they waited till 1am (Friday) till it was safe to cover the rest of the way home. In the meantime, I had my son get off the bus at Khetolai, 80km from Jaisalmer, and organised overnight accommodation for him in a village. It wasn't until 2am that my family made it home in Jaisalmer. As a journalist, I am battle-hardened, having covered many challenging situations. But Thursday offered a reality check. My own family was in peril. The Pakistani fusillade has left me deeply shaken. This night will remain etched in memory.
