SRH's Harshal Patel scripts history in IPL 2025, bcomes second fastest bowler to...

Harshal Patel. New Delhi: SRH star pacer Harshal Patel wrote history with an amazing individual milestone during their game against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. The right-arm fast bowler set a new record for reaching 150 wickets in the fewest balls bowled in Indian Premier League. He surpassed previous record holders by dismissing Aiden Markram with a deceptive slower yorker. This wicket, taken on the 2381st ball of his IPL career, surpassed Lasith Malinga's previous record of 2444 balls for a similar achievement. Harshal Patel has joined the ranks of the fastest bowlers to reach 150 IPL wickets, achieving the milestone in 2381 balls and 117 matches. This places him second fastest in terms of matches played, surpassed only by Lasith Malinga. The top five fastest bowlers in terms of balls bowled are now Patel, Malinga (2444 balls), Chahal (2543 balls), Bravo (2656 balls), and Bumrah (2832 balls). While Harshal achieved a notable milestone, his and Sunrisers Hyderabad's overall performance was underwhelming. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) set a challenging 205/7, thanks in part to strong performances from their key international players. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling attack struggled, with one bowler conceding 49 runs from four overs. Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran continued their strong performances with another impressive showing. Marsh, Markram, and Pooran each achieved significant batting milestones for their IPL team. Marsh and Markram both scored over 60 runs, and Pooran contributed a rapid 45. This performance established a new IPL record, as they became the first international trio to each surpass 400 runs in a single season playing for the same franchise.

Harshal Patel Surpasses Lasith Malinga To Hold New IPL Record, Becomes Fastest Player To...

Last Updated: Harshal Patel of Sunrisers Hyderabad reached 150 IPL wickets, becoming the fastest in terms of balls bowled, surpassing Lasith Malinga. He took Aiden Markram's wicket. Sunrisers Hyderabad's Harshal Patel now finds himself amongst an elite list of bowlers who have been a part of the Indian Premier League. The pacer reached the 150 wickets milestone in the tournament during the game against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday. He got the wicket of Aiden Markram to give the visitors a crucial breakthrough as LSG looked to carry on after a blistering century-run stand by the opening pair. He managed to get the better of the South African international with a well-executed slower ball, which went on to crash onto the stumps, ending Markram's knock after his half-century. Harshal now holds the record for the fastest to 150 wickets in the IPL in terms of the number of deliveries bowled. He overtook the legendary Sri Lankan pacer who also played for Mumbai Indians, Lasith Malinga, to now take the record to his name. Player Name Balls Bowled Harshal Patel 2381 Lasith Malinga 2444 Yuzvendra Chahal 2543 Dwayne Bravo 2656 Jasprit Bumrah 2832 Malinga previously held the record, having reached the milestone in 2444 balls, 63 deliveries slower than when Harshal Patel reached this record today. Harshal has established himself as a proven wicket-taker but also has the reputation of being experienced in terms of his economy rate. SRH will look to take as many points as possible in the rest of the league-stage campaign and end their season on a positive note, considering they are already eliminated from the playoff stages of the IPL, a shocking downfall in comparison to being runners-up in the last season. Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to field against Lucknow Super Giants in their Indian Premier League clash SRH have made a couple of changes with Harsh Dubey and Atharva Taide replacing Travis Head and Jaydev Unadkat. LSG have handed an IPL debut to New Zealand pacer Will O'Rourke, who replaces David Miller. First Published: May 19, 2025, 21:31 IST

SRH Star Harshal Patel Breaks All-Time IPL Record. Becomes Fastest Player To...

Harshal Patel carved his name into the history books with a remarkable individual milestone during their clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. The right-arm pacer became the fastest bowler in Indian Premier League history to reach 150 wickets in terms of balls bowled, surpassing legendary names in the process. Patel achieved the feat by dismissing Aiden Markram in the 16th over of the innings with one of his trademark slower yorkers — a dipping delivery that deceived the South African completely and crashed into the stumps. It was Patel's first wicket of the night but one that placed him in elite company. The wicket came off the 2381st ball of his IPL career, breaking the previous record held by Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga, who had taken 2444 balls to reach the same landmark. The updated list of fastest to 150 IPL wickets in terms of balls now reads: Harshal Patel (2381), Lasith Malinga (2444), Yuzvendra Chahal (2543), Dwayne Bravo (2656), and Jasprit Bumrah (2832). Harshal also became the second-fastest bowler to reach 150 wickets in terms of matches played, achieving it in 117 games — only behind Malinga who got there in 105. Despite the record-breaking moment, it wasn't the best night overall for Harshal or SunRisers Hyderabad. The pacer ended with figures of 1 for 49 in his four overs as Lucknow Super Giants posted a daunting total of 205 for 7. The SRH bowlers struggled across the board, unable to contain LSG's explosive overseas trio that has been their mainstay all season. Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran all fired once again, continuing their excellent form. Marsh and Markram registered confident half-centuries, both crossing the 60-run mark, while Pooran added a blistering 45. With this, the trio created a unique record of their own — becoming the first overseas trio in IPL history to each score 400 or more runs in a single season for the same team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes 30 runs off Karim Janat's over, enters IPL's most expensive overs list

Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed some unforgettable batting onslaughts, each more devastating than the other. However, it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Harshal Patel and the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala's Prasanth Parameswaran who were at the receiving end of two of the most brutal assaults ever witnessed in IPL cricket matches. Harshal Patel and Prasanth Parameswaran jointly hold the record for the most expensive over in IPL history, with each having conceded 37 runs, almost 10 years apart. Prasanth Parameswaran, playing for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in IPL 2011, had the misfortune of bowling to one Chris Gayle, who was in full flow and took the left-arm seamer to the cleaners in the third over of the innings. The RCB opener, in his signature belligerent style, dispatched Parameswaran for 6, 6 (no-ball), 4, 4, 6, 6, 4 — stacking up 37 runs in the seven-ball over. Gayle's rampage helped RCB chase down Kochi's modest 125-run target with ease, sealing a nine-wicket win. Almost a decade later, in IPL 2021, RCB's Harshal Patel was met with a similar fate while playing against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Bowling the final over of a league stage match, Harshal Patel was subject to a brutal thrashing by Ravindra Jadeja, who unleashed pure carnage. The CSK all-rounder clobbered five sixes, a four, and a double in a seven-ball over that read: 6, 6, 6 (no-ball), 6, 2, 6, 4. Jadeja's fireworks propelled CSK to 191/4, ultimately securing a commanding 69-run victory. Incidentally, Harshal Patel would go on to win the Purple Cap that season with 32 wickets from 15 matches and was also named the Most Valuable Player of the campaign. His haul from that season remains tied with Dwayne Bravo's record for most wickets in a single IPL edition. Karim Janat joins the list after Vaibhav Suryavanshi's onslaught In IPL 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old sensation, smashed Karim Janat for a brutal 30 runs in a single over during an explosive innings. The over went: 6, 4, 4, 6, 4, 6, with a flurry of powerful shots that left everyone, including teammates and fans, in awe. Although not as expensive as the 37-run overs by Harshal Patel and Parameswaran, Karim Janat's 30-run over now finds its place among the most expensive overs in IPL history. Suryavanshi's fearless hitting, at such a young age, has caught the attention of the cricket world, with experts praising his incredible composure and talent under pressure.
