Beauty queen claims another mountain record

Sharing the good news, she said she reached the base camp on May 16, before successfully summiting Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, on May 20. On Aug 7, the Malaysia Book of Records recognised her as the 'First Beauty Queen to Complete Back-to-Back Everest Base Camp and Island Peak' climbs. Everest Base Camp (5,364m) in Nepal's Khumbu region serves as the gateway for climbers attempting to climb Mount Everest. Nearby Island Peak (6,189m), a striking trekking peak accessible from Imja Valley, is a popular challenge for mountaineers and trekkers alike. The latest feat marks Harveen's second record-setting achievement, Bernama reported. In September 2023, she became the 'First Beauty Queen to Summit Mount Kilimanjaro', Africa's highest peak at 5,895m. Her mountaineering journey has also taken her to Mera Peak (6,476m) in Nepal, which she scaled on April 11, 2024. That expedition came at a cost – she lost her left middle finger to frostbite. In the spirit of National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, Harveen urged Malaysians to strive for excellence in all they set out to achieve. 'Let's make our nation stand out in the world by scaling new heights in our pursuits,' she said.

‘Jealous' of fiancee's ex, man & aides abduct, rob him
Times News Network Ludhiana: Model Town police arrested three individuals, including a woman, for abducting her former boyfriend. The accused allegedly abducted him in a car, thrashed and robbed him before dropping him near Jalandhar Bypass. Police said that the woman was engaged but would often talk to the victim, which her fiancé objected to. He forced her to call the victim for a meeting to resolve the matter. However, instead of talking it out, he called his friends and abducted the victim, Soojal of Dhillon Nagar, Shimlapuri. Police lodged an FIR against Harveen, her fiancé Sahil Ghai, and two aides, Kunal Sidhu of Bhora Mohalla, Jalandhar Bypass, and Jatin of Sunder Nagar, on Soojal's complaint. Soojal, 19, said that he received a phone call from Harveen, who insisted on meeting him. He said that he refused twice, but agreed on her insistence. Harveen called him to meet her near the Atam Park area. When he reached the spot, he met Harveen and her fiancé, Sahil Ghai, who said that they wanted to talk. From there, Soojal, Harveen, and Sahil reached Jalandhar Bypass on Soojal's bike. After they broke up, Harveen got engaged to Sahil but remained in touch with Soojal, which Sahil didn't like. He wanted to teach Soojal a lesson and made Harveen call him for a meeting.
