Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed officials to ensure that the tendering process for civil works in the state is fully transparent, efficient and time-bound to accelerate cleanliness, beautification and infrastructure development in urban areas. He instructed that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) be prepared for the tender process, with clearly defined timelines and responsibilities for each stage, to eliminate unnecessary delays and ensure timely execution of projects. The Chief Minister presided over a meeting of the High Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) in Panchkula concerning the implementation of various projects in urban local bodies. Urban Local Bodies Minister Sh Vipul Goyal was also present. The committee approved projects worth approximately Rs 342 crore. Through rate negotiations with various bidders, savings of about Rs11.90 crore were achieved. Anurag Rastogi reviewed the progress of projects worth over Rs100 crore with administrative secretaries. During the meeting, detailed information was given about 18 projects from the Civil Aviation, Health & Family Welfare, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Industries & Commerce, and Power Departments, with a combined value of over Rs21,548 crore. 'Factual accuracy, respectful language and a positive outlook are essential for guiding society in the right direction,' he said. The workshop, organised by the Vidhan Sabha, aimed to familiarise journalists with legislative procedures, parliamentary traditions and digital platforms. Kalyan also referred to the 'One Nation, One Legislature' concept and the House's digital transition, stressing the media's role in making India a developed nation by 2047. 'There is no limit to learning. No matter how high we reach, there is always room for improvement and learning,' Kalyan said. Former Haryana chief secretary Keshni Anand Arora said diligence, positive thinking and inner happiness are keys to success, urging journalists to work with optimism despite challenges. She said that having a clear goal in life is essential. 'Without a goal, one is like a ship without direction,' she said, noting that the media faces many challenges. PRS Legislative Research's Chakshu Roy cautioned that covering expunged remarks or unpublished documents from the House amounts to a breach of privilege. Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Academy director Chander Trikha stressed that credibility must remain intact despite challenges, even as Panjab University's Gurmeet Singh, a professor in the Hindi department, advised journalists to strengthen their technical knowledge.

'The government is doing its work but along with it, the common people will also have to perform their duty by planting as many trees as possible,' he said. At the village, Kalyan paid his respects at the Sitamai temple and planted a sapling on the panchayat land, where 1,000 saplings were planted by school students. 'Today we need more and more forest area. To live a good life, we need trees and greenery, only then we will be able to breathe in good air, only then our lungs will be fine,' the speaker said. He further said that no matter how much money we earn, if we do not leave a good environment for our children, they will not be able to breathe clean air. 'Today we all have to take a pledge that we will plant as many trees as possible. Along with this, trees have to be taken care of like children. Our existence is due to trees. He called upon everyone to contribute in planting as many trees as possible as a responsible citizen,' he added.
