AFP Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali on Thursday expressed his strong desire to help Pakistan win the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, calling every match an opportunity to prove himself after a tough battle with injury and rehabilitation. Speaking on the Pakistan Cricket Board's podcast, Hasan reflected on his journey back to the national side and the emotional weight of returning to form. "If you ask me, I want to play for Pakistan in the World Cup and win it for my country. For me, every match is now an opportunity, and I will give my 100 percent," he said. The 30-year-old made a stunning comeback on Wednesday in the first T20I against Bangladesh at Gaddafi Stadium, taking a five-wicket haul and becoming only the fourth Pakistani bowler to achieve this feat in T20Is. Hasan emphasised that while a player's performance can fluctuate, consistent effort is non-negotiable. "Performance may vary, but your effort on the field should always be visible. At the end of the day, I want to leave the field with the satisfaction that I gave my all," he said. Reflecting on his injury and the rehab phase, Hasan said the journey back was filled with challenges. "Coming back from injury is never easy. There is a unique pressure to it. I am grateful and proud that I managed to get fit again. A lot of hard work went into it, and I am finally seeing the results," Hasan said. He described his return to the Pakistan team as a dream come true and reaffirmed his determination to perform at the highest level. "It feels like a dream has come true. I am very excited and committed to performing well for the team. There is no substitute for hard work," he concluded. He revealed that he has now been assigned a middle-order role, which he is fully committed to fulfilling. Hasan played a blistering innings of 44 runs off just 22 balls, including four sixes and two fours, in the first T20I against Bangladesh on Wednesday - a knock that played a key role in Pakistan's victory. The 22-year-old also impressed in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 while playing for Quetta Gladiators, where he finished as the third-highest run-scorer. Hasan amassed 399 runs in the tournament, including one century and three half-centuries. Speaking on the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) podcast, Hasan said that although he has primarily opened the batting throughout his career, he is now ready to adapt to his new responsibility in the middle order. "I have always been an opener. I did not know I could perform this well in the middle order too. But now that I have been given the role, I will try my best to fulfill it," he said. Hasan also shared that he never succumbs to pressure - rather, he thrives under it. "Whether it's domestic cricket or the PSL, I have never felt pressure. I actually play better under pressure, and that is why my performance remains strong." Expressing his ambitions, Hasan said he aims to play and win as many matches as possible for Pakistan. He also dreams of being part of a World Cup-winning squad. "My goal is to play and win more matches for Pakistan. My dream is to be part of the team whenever Pakistan wins a major trophy," he concluded.

How anger over mom's mugging fuelled Hasan Ali's brilliant T20I comeback
Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has revealed that his mother was mugged at his hometown of Gujranwala before the first T20 International against Bangladesh here and he channelised his anger over the incident for a match-winning five-wicket haul in the game. Hasan, making a comeback to the Pakistan team after nearly a year took 5 for 30, his best T20 international figures, to set up a 39-run win for Pakistan at the Gadaffi stadium in Lahore on Wednesday night. "I was very upset about hearing about the incident with my mother but my family told me to focus on my comeback," Hasan said. His mother escaped unhurt but the muggers snatched her purse in a market, resulting in the loss of 230,000 Pakistani Rupees. Despite being shaken by the incident, Hasan said he was quite happy with hsi performance. Live Events "I was scheduled to fly to England to play for Warwickshire immediately after the Pakistan Super League but the national selectors then told me I am playing in the series against Bangladesh and it was a big boost for me," he said. Hasan said when he last played for Pakistan in Dublin last year and first picked up his elbow injury, he didn't realise the seriousness of the problem. "Later I realised and was told it is a career-threatening injury if I don't follow the complete rehabilitation process. I have worked very hard in the last months with my support team which helped me overcome the injury and make a comeback," Hasan said. Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali marked his return to international cricket with a maiden five-wicket haul in T20 internationals during the first match of the series against Bangladesh at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday. He then took two wickets in his third over, removing wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali and Tanzim Hasan Sakib. He sealed his five-wicket haul by catching Shoriful Islam at long off in his final over. His performance helped bowl out Bangladesh for 164, securing a 37-run victory for Pakistan in the series opener. Reflecting on his achievement, Hasan described the five-wicket haul as 'truly special' and credited the team's batting for setting a competitive total. 'The plan was straightforward — I just needed to bowl in the right areas,' he said. 'T20 cricket heavily favours batsmen, so developing pace variations becomes crucial. I'm pleased I could execute my variations effectively when it mattered most.' Hasan also expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the medical team for their support during his rehabilitation, calling the process 'boring' but requiring dedication and passion. 'Facing a potentially career-ending injury made me deeply appreciate the PCB and my physio's incredible support,' he added. The win marked a positive start for newly-appointed Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, whose instructions to play a modern and aggressive brand of T20 cricket appeared to be embraced by the team. 'Hesson's philosophy was clear — play modern, aggressive T20 cricket. We executed the fundamentals well, and I'm sure he's satisfied with our performance,' Hasan said. Hasan Ali's career-best figures of 5 for 30 and Shadab Khan's all-round performance took Pakistan to a commanding victory of 37 runs against Bangladesh in the T20I series opener on Wednesday in Lahore. In the chase of a huge target of 202 in 20 overs, Hasan Ali struck his first blow when he removed Bangladesh opener Parvez Hossain Emon, caught at mid-on for 4 in his first over. In his next over, Tanzid Hasan took him for a brace of fours, but the fast bowler hit back to knock him over with a knuckle ball, for 31 off 17 balls. Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy had added 63 for the third wicket, but they didn't find the tempo that could've hurt Pakistan. Das was removed by Shadab Khan for 48 runs off 30 balls in the 11th over. Hridoy was also removed in the following over by Khushdil Shah. He managed only 17 off 22 balls, with just one four. Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shamim Hossain also departed in the 13th over for just four runs courtesy of Pakistan skipper Salman Agha. Hasan Ali returned to the attack in the 18th over. Bangladesh were 141 for 6, still needing 61 off 18 balls. Jaker Ali was on 30 off 18 balls at that point, with his big-hitting offering Bangladesh slim hope. Hasan conceded a six with his first legal ball in his second spell, but removed Jaker on the next ball for 36 off 20 balls. In the same over, he had Tanzim caught and bowled for 1. In the final over, Hasan completed his five-for and dismissed Bangladesh for 164. Earlier in the first innings, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman walked out to open for Pakistan. But both openers were back in the dugout within two overs. Mohammad Haris and Salman Agha were nearing a 50-run partnership for the third wicket before Haris was removed by Tanzim Hasan Sakib for 31 runs off 18 balls in the 7th over. Salman kept going for fifty, as the batter completed his fifty in the 11th over. However, Hasan Mahmud removed him in the following over for 56 runs. After Agha, Hasan Nawaz was also dismissed for 44 runs off just 22 balls, striking at 200 by Rishad Hossain in the 14th over. Pakistan went 18 balls without a boundary after Nawaz's dismissal. Shamim Hossain was the surprise package with his part-time off-breaks; he dismissed Khushdil Shah in the 17th over for his maiden T20I cricket. Shadab, though, went after Rishad in the 18th over, taking him for a sequence of 6,6,4. Shadab struck two more fours off Shoriful in the last over. Shadab's hits were vital to Pakistan crossing 200.
