PAK vs BAN, 2nd T20I: Pakistan clinches series after beating Bangladesh by 57 runs in second match
Pakistan clinched the Twenty20 series against Bangladesh after winning the second match by a comfortable 57 runs on Friday. The Pakistan top order set up a 201 total for the second straight time and seven of the eight bowlers took wickets to dismiss Bangladesh for 144 in 19 overs. Pakistan won the first match by 37 runs on Wednesday and will look for a clean sweep in the final game at the same Lahore venue on Sunday. Tanzid Hasan scored all 32 runs in the first two overs of the chase but was out for 33 to a stunning reflex catch at short fine leg by Abrar Ahmed. By the end of the powerplay, Bangladesh was 54-3 and reeling from some splendid catches. Abrar trapped Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali leg before wicket off successive sharp googlies. AS IT HAPPENED | PAK vs BAN, 2nd T20I highlights At the halfway mark, Bangladesh was 78-7 and the inevitable was delayed only by No. 9 batter Tanzim Hasan Sakib, whose 50 off 31 was his maiden T20 half-century. He was the last man out as fast bowler Shoriful Islam couldn't bat after pulling up with a groin injury in his first over. Sahibzada Farhan starred with the bat in only his 10th T20 since his debut six years ago. He smashed 74 off 41 balls. Farhan lost the selectors' favor after four consecutive single-digit scores against Australia last year in the T20 series. But he forced his way back by topping the batting chart in the recent Pakistan Super League. He got an opportunity after first-choice opener Fakhar Zaman was rested for Friday's game. Luck favored Farhan when he was dropped off the third ball of the match before he scored. Saim Ayub was run out in the second over after Farhan refused the third run. Pakistan's middle order didn't hold back, and its latest T20 batting sensation, Hasan Nawaz, blistered 51 off 25 balls with three sixes and two fours. | Photo Credit: AFP Farhan then added 103 runs off 54 balls with Mohammad Haris (41) as both batted with a new licence to be aggressive under new coach Mike Hesson. Farhan got a second life after his half-century when Mehidy Hasan Miraz could not hold onto a sharp catch in the covers. Haris was caught at backward point in the 11th over, and Farhan was caught in the next over by Bangladesh captain Litton Das behind the stumps. Pakistan's middle order didn't hold back, and its latest T20 batting sensation, Hasan Nawaz, blistered 51 off 25 balls with three sixes and two fours. But Pakistan scored only 40 runs in the final five overs with an excellent comeback by fast bowler Hasan Mahmud, 2-47. Related Topics Pakistan / Bangladesh

Journeyman Sikandar Raza blasts Lahore Qalandars to Pakistan Super League title
LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars won the Pakistan Super League with a six-wicket win against Quetta Gladiators on Sunday, with Sikandar Raza hitting the winning runs after only landing back in Lahore minutes prior to the start of the final. The 39-year old Zimbabwean landed in Lahore just ten minutes before the toss, after scoring a half century in his country's innings defeat in the Nottingham Test against England a day before. Needing 13 in the last over to complete a 202-run chase set by Quetta, Raza completed the task during his seven-ball 22 not out with two sixes and as many boundaries. He hit a maximum and a four in the last over to seal the victory with one ball remaining. Sri Lankan Kusal Perera led the chase with an undefeated 31-ball 62 studded with five boundaries and four sixes, adding 59 runs during the unbroken fifth wicket stand. Opener Mohammad Naeem scored 46, with half a dozen sixes and one boundary, and Abdullah Shafique hit 41 to set Lahore on course for the highest-ever chase in a PSL final. Lahore sealed their third title following triumphs in 2022 and 2023. Raza said it was unbelievable to reach Lahore and achieve success. 'It is unbelievable, batted for 40-odd overs in the Test, flew to Dubai where I had breakfast and then lunch in Abu Dhabi and arrived minutes from the toss, so it's incredible,' he said. Hasan Nawaz scored a brilliant 76 to lift Quetta to 201-9 after they won the toss and batted. Coming in at 21-2, Nawaz added 67 for the fourth wicket with Avishka Fernando (29) and another 46 with Dinesh Chandimal (22) to steady the ship. Lahore skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of Lahore's bowlers with 3-24. It was Faheem Ashraf (28) who lifted Quetta past 200, taking 23 off the last Salman Mirza over. The six-team PSL was suspended on May 9 following the conflict between Pakistan and India. However, the league resumed on May 17 after a ceasefire between the two countries.

Top performing players of HBL PSL X honoured
It was a night to forget for Quetta Gladiators as they fell short in the HBL PSL final against Lahore Qalandars, but the tournament belonged to young batter Hasan Nawaz, whose breakout performances earned him the Player of the Tournament award after amassing nearly 400 runs. The 22-year-old batter, who holds the record for the fastest T20 century by a Pakistani in T20Is, lived up to expectations by scoring around 399 runs in ten innings during PSL 2025, including a century and three half-centuries, while smashing 28 sixes. Although he finished as the third-highest run-scorer of the tournament — behind Sahibzada Farhan (449) and Fakhar Zaman (439) — it was Hasan Nawaz's ability to perform under pressure, particularly his gritty 76 off 43 deliveries in the final, that earned him both the Best Batter and Player of the Tournament awards in HBL PSL 2025. But Nawaz wasn't the only young talent to shine. Lahore Qalandars unearthed another gem at the top of the order in Mohammad Naeem, following in the footsteps of Fakhar Zaman, who also rose through their ranks. After a quiet start, Naeem found his rhythm and ended the tournament with 314 runs, including three fifties, outperforming seasoned names like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. His efforts were recognized with the Emerging Player of the Tournament award, marking him as one of the standout discoveries of PSL 2025. Among the bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi staged a remarkable comeback. After a quiet start to the tournament, he came alive in the crunch stages. Afridi took 10 wickets in the final four matches—including two eliminators and the final—at an average of 9.30 and an economy of 7.06. He finished as the leading wicket-taker with 19 scalps and was named Bowler of the Tournament. In the all-rounder category, Sikandar Raza produced a memorable finish. Having landed in Lahore just 10 minutes before the toss after playing for Zimbabwe in England, Raza played a match-winning cameo in the final, smashing 22 off 7 balls* to help Lahore chase down 202 with one ball to spare. He was duly named All-Rounder of the Tournament. Another highlight was Kusal Perera, who despite playing only a handful of matches, left a big impact. The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter delivered one of his finest T20 innings when it mattered most, hammering 62 off 31 balls in the final and earning the Player of the Match award. Lastly, Asif Yaqoob was named Umpire of the Tournament for his consistent and composed officiating throughout PSL 2025.

PSL 2025 final: Shaheen Afridi leads the way as Lahore Qalandars win third T20 crown
Shaheen Afridi emerged as the most successful captain in Pakistan Super League history as his Lahore Qalandars side stormed to the title with a six-wicket win over Quetta Gladiators in the final on Sunday. Lahore chased down the 202-run target with one ball to spare as Afridi lifted the PSL trophy for the third time. Sri Lankan wicketkeeper batter Kusal Perera (62) and local batting star Mohammad Naeem (46) powered Lahore's chase but it was Afridi who had restricted Quetta earlier with a stunning spell, finishing with 3-24 in a high-scoring contest. The match, however, was dominated by the bat as the future of Pakistan's batting was on display during the final, with Hasan Nawaz of Quetta and Naeem landing some heavy hits in a tense contest. Up-and-coming batting star Nawaz saved his best for the most important match of the tournament at the Qaddafi Stadium as he cracked 76 from 43 balls. His was the best effort in an all-round batting display by Quetta as five of their top seven batters made decent contributions. Sri Lankan duo Avishka Fernando (29) and Dinesh Chandimal (22) played impactful innings but it was all-rounder Faheem Ashraf who once again delivered with the bat, smashing 28 from just eight balls with three sixes to edge the total to 201-9. Nawaz thus continued his stellar form in T20 cricket, averaging 57 in the PSL with a ton and three fifties, to go with his T20 century in New Zealand earlier in the year. A target of over 200 in a tournament final was a psychological boost for Quetta. They could have had a lot more as four of Lahore's five bowlers went for more than 10 runs an over. The only reason Quetta got restricted to around 200 was another superb spell by pace ace Afridi. The left-arm quick and Qalandars captain returned superb figures of 3-24 from his four overs, including important scalps of his counterpart Saud Shakeel and top-scorer Nawaz. Afridi also finished as the highest wicket taker in the tournament with 19 scalps at an economy of under eight. In reply, Lahore too were powered at the top by their own local batting powerhouse Naeem, who made a brisk 46 from 27 balls with a staggering six sixes. Abdullah Shafique maintained the tempo for Lahore with 41 from 28 but it was Sri Lankan batter Perera who anchored the chase with 62 not out from 31 balls with five fours and four sixes. The finishing touch was provided by Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who had flown in for the final at the last possible moment. Raza hit six and a four off the third last and penultimate ball of the tournament, bowled by Faheem, to secure victory with six wickets and one ball in hand. It was a noteworthy effort from Raza who had been busy with his national team during a one-off Test in England. After his team succumbed to an innings defeat in Nottingham on Saturday, Raza flew straight to Pakistan and landed in Lahore just in time to feature in the final. Lahore have now won three of the last four PSL titles.
