Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, at the Royal Thai Embassy. Both parties discussed cooperation in promoting trade and investment between the two countries in the residential construction, infrastructure and construction materials businesses. The company is interested in working with Thai partners to assemble products for export to Europe and Africa, where Egypt enjoys special tax privileges and is located near both major markets. The company also believes that Thailand has potential to invest in Egypt in the hospitality and tourism sectors, and is ready to enhance awareness of the potential and economic opportunities in Egypt, as well as provide advice on investment loans to Thai entrepreneurs. Hassan Allam Holding, which is over 89 years old, is one of the largest companies in Egypt. Hassan Allam Trading & Engineering has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SCG International, a Thai conglomerate, to enter the Middle East and Africa markets in 2023. A vital component of the city's wastewater infrastructure, the Alexandria West plant serves millions of residents. The planned upgrade will enhance the plant's capacity and efficiency, addressing the region's rising wastewater treatment demands while supporting Egypt's national environmental and water sustainability goals. The project will convert the facility from primary to secondary treatment, introducing advanced sludge digestion and biogas generation systems. It also includes the refurbishment of existing structures and the construction of new treatment units. Hassan Allam-Metito JV awarded Alexandria West WWTP expansion in Egypt

Egypt's Hassan Allam Construction, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding, in joint venture with UAE's Metito has been awarded the Alexandria West Wastewater Treatment Plant – Extension & Upgrade Project. The project will increase the WWTP's capacity to 600,000 cubic metres per day (m3/day), Hassan Allam Holding said in a press statement. The plant's existing primary design capacity is 462,000 m³/day, according to data available on the website of Dorsch Gruppe, which prepared the feasibility study for the project. The scope involves upgrading the plant from primary to secondary treatment, incorporating advanced sludge digestion and biogas generation systems, refurbishing existing facilities, and constructing new treatment units. The statement didn't reveal cost or completion timelines. The project is financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) through a €120 million concessional loan with a €20 million grant from the European Union's (EU) Neighbourhood Investment Platform (NIP), according to a March 2024 statement by EU Neighbours South programme. Egypt: Hassan Allam Construction inks deal to rehabilitate Alexandria Raml Tram

Arab Finance: Hassan Allam Construction, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding, has signed a contract to implement the infrastructure works for the Alexandria Raml Tram rehabilitation project, according to a press release. The rehabilitation project will be executed in a joint venture (JV) with The Arab Contractors, awarded by the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT). The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry. The agreement covers the rehabilitation of a 13.2-kilometer tram line, the development of a modern maintenance depot, and the building of elevated viaducts at key traffic intersections. This is in addition to improving 24 stations along the route. These enhancements are expected to cut journey times from 60 to 35 minutes by boosting operational speed from 11 to 21 kilometers per hour. The project will also decrease headways from nine minutes to three, tripling hourly capacity from 4,700 to 13,800 passengers in each direction. Furthermore, this upgrade will support smoother traffic flow, lower emissions, and promote environmental sustainability in the city.
