CAIRO: Kuwait's national handball team defeated Uruguay 35-25 in the President's Cup competition of the U-17 World Championship held in Egypt on Thursday. The first half ended in favor of the Kuwaiti team 18-13, and the 'Blues' dominated the game in the second half to end the match in their favor. Kuwaiti player Hassan Boland won the best player award for the second time after winning the same award in the match between Kuwait and Morocco on Tuesday, which ended with the national team winning 34-25.
The President's Cup competition is held within the 2025 World Handball Championship, and teams that did not qualify for the main round participate in it, where they play to determine the 17th to 32nd places and ensure a fair final ranking. The team lost its three matches in the group stage against Sweden.
