Bedouin Organization issues distress call after settlers force Palestinian families to leave their homes
Ariha – SABA:
The Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights issued an urgent distress call to the international community on Thursday evening, after Israeli settlers attacked the Arab Al-Malihat Bedouin community northwest of Ariha in the occupied Palestinian territories, imposing a total siege and forcing several Palestinian families to flee their homes.
In a statement, the organization asserted that these settler violations constitute a war crime and a blatant breach of international humanitarian law, warning that the historical and human presence of Arab Al-Malihat is under threat of erasure. It described the situation as a serious warning to all Palestinian communities in the Jordan Valley, urging unity in the face of aggression and calling for the protection of national and human rights.
Hassan Maihat, the organization's general supervisor, stated that the residents are living under constant psychological terror due to ongoing settler provocations and assaults, which have prompted dozens of families to begin evacuating the area.
He added that settlers are bringing their livestock into the agricultural lands of the community, causing significant damage to crops and the livelihoods of families, all amid a lack of protection from both Palestinian authorities and international bodies.
According to data from the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settler and Israeli military attacks have resulted in the displacement of around 30 Palestinian communities in the West Bank since the escalation of Israeli aggression in tandem with the genocide in Gaza.
The organization urged the international community and human rights bodies to intervene immediately to protect the Palestinian population in the Jordan Valley and stop the ongoing violations threatening their existence on their land.
