The 21-year-old Chelsea striker became just the third woman – and second Lioness after Beth Mead – to score three times at headquarters, where Lucy Bronze, Mead and substitute Chloe Kelly were also on target. Beever-Jones said: 'I'm delighted. I don't even know any of the records and whatever, but I think someone just said it was Beth, so to be alongside her is something really, really incredible. Fernandes, 30, admitted after the Europa League final defeat by Tottenham loss that United could end up cashing in on him with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal reportedly willing to triple his salary and pay the Premier League club up to £100million. Asked after his side's 3-1 friendly win over Hong Kong if whether that might have been Fernandes' last appearance for the club, head coach Amorim said: 'I don't think so. All eyes will be on Munich's Allianz Arena on Saturday evening as Paris St Germain attempt to finally get their hands on the Champions League trophy. However, standing in the way of the French double winners are three-times European champions Inter Milan, who are desperate to soothe their pain at surrendering the Serie title to Napoli. Inter were beaten in the 2023 final by Manchester City in Istanbul, three years after PSG went down to Bayern Munich in Lisbon, but one of them will emerge victorious this time around.

Are you not entertained? 'Vintage England' deliver under pressure
All eyes were on goalkeeper Hannah Hampton after a rocky week for the England squad - but just half an hour in, it was someone else taking the spotlight at forward Aggie Beever-Jones was star of the show, scoring her first England hat-trick in the 6-0 thumping of Portugal in the Women's Nations 21-year-old's treble came in just 33 was a scintillating performance from Beever-Jones and the Lionesses just five weeks out from Euro 2025 when they will attempt to defend their European had been building pre-match following goalkeeper Mary Earps' shock international retirement. How would they cope without one of their talismanic leaders? Could Chelsea's Hampton handle the pressure?Clearly, they coped extremely well, and newly confirmed number one Hampton barely had to move a muscle. "Are you not entertained?," said former England goalkeeper Karen Bardsley on BBC Radio 5 Live."I'm running out of rubber on my eraser because I keep having to change [goalscoring] tally marks."It's been so fun to watch, with so much fluidity, and the enjoyment this England team has been playing with."Ex-England defender Lindsay Johnson described it as a "Friday night funfest" and even manager Sarina Wiegman celebrated more than usual in the so much attention on matters off the pitch over the past week, this was a performance that emphatically shut out the noise and lifted the was "back to business" as Wiegman claimed afterwards. 'Wonderful to see the girls with smiles on their faces' She had fielded questions regarding Earps' retirement on Thursday, admitting it had been a "hard" start to the was visibly emotional, reflecting on the good times they shared together and unwilling to discuss how frustrating the sudden departure of the 32-year-old may only 13 caps for Hampton prior to kick-off, and none for the other two goalkeepers in the squad, fears were raised about their when the team in front plays so well, it quickly becomes less of a concern. Hampton spent the majority of the second half stood still, watching on as her team-mates tried to add to their five first-half goals, managing one more through Chloe hero Beever-Jones gave some insight into Wiegman's talk before the Group A3 tie, saying. "She said before the game, 'it's a new kit, it's a new England, we have a new squad'."But it wasn't a new England, it was a "vintage" England, according to Bardsley, who was waxing lyrical by the time the fifth goal came in only the 33rd minute, sealing a treble for Bronze nodded in England's second, while Beth Mead joined in on the action and substitute Kelly added the finishing touch with the sixth in the 62nd minute."This is reminding me of vintage England, casting myself back to 2022," said Bardsley, who made 81 appearances for the Lionesses. "Portugal have been poor, but among the noise, it is so wonderful to see the girls with smiles on their faces."They were not the only ones with smiles on their faces as supporters danced and celebrated at full-time, clearly encouraged by what they had form has dipped throughout the last 18 months. Just seven weeks ago they were beaten in Leuven by Belgium - who are bottom of the Women's Nations League group - and two months after picking up a victory over world champions Spain at the Lionesses showed they were up to the task when the pressure was on, buoyed by the return of key players Georgia Stanway, Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood from injury."There has been a lot of noise [this week] and players wanted to put that to bed," added Johnson."Questions in the press conference were relentless and they are going to be. They just want to talk about football and they made it all about the football."Mary [Earps] will be missed, but when you score six goals in the fashion they did, we are just talking about the football and how good England were." 'Beever-Jones is a baller' "Aggie Beever-Jones is a baller," was also Bardsley's statement at full-time as she lauded the Chelsea forward has given her chances of selection for Euro 2025 a significant boost and Wiegman couldn't help but laugh when asked the question."I think she did really well…" said the Dutchwoman with a smile."She is a goalscorer. She scores goals very easily and very well. She has such quick feet. She is also really tight on the ball, she played really relaxed."Team-mate Kelly said it was great to see Beever-Jones "firing" in an England shirt and Bardsley said she was a "pesky" forward to play for a starting role will be hard to come by though. Arsenal's Alessia Russo was watching from the bench, rested for this match after picking up a minor calf injury, while Chelsea's Lauren James has still to return from was impressive too on her first England game since knee surgery in November, while Mead was on the scoresheet and Kelly proved her worth off the bench."She really announced herself and put her case forward to Sarina Wiegman so she knows she is capable of starting at the Euros this summer," added Bardsley of Beever-Jones."Knowing there's that weapon, whether it's on the bench or from the start, is so lovely to know that she's in Sarina Wiegman's tool kit."Beever-Jones looked over to her family to celebrate and revealed the team had signed the match ball to take home whatever her role is at the Euros, she is ready to make an impact."In football it's never just a straight line. I've had to be patient in this set-up and that just shows the quality the team has," Beever-Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live."I got the opportunity and I am grateful to everyone who helped me get into this place. I couldn't have hoped for a better day."I wouldn't want anyone else for competition. Alessia [Russo] is an incredible player, I learn so much off her and the whole frontline. Hopefully I can contribute where I can."Whenever I'm playing for England I just hope I'm giving the right people the right headaches." Head here to get involved

Aggie Beever-Jones hopes hat-trick earns spot in England's Euro 2025 squad
Hat-trick heroine Aggie Beever-Jones hoped to keep a smile on England boss Sarina Wiegman's face as she attempted to book a seat on the plane to the Euro 2025 finals. The Chelsea striker scored three times inside 30 first-half minutes in a 6-0 Nations League rout of Portugal at Wembley on Friday evening to set up a Group A3 showdown with leaders Spain next Tuesday. In the longer term, Beever-Jones is eager to make Wiegman's squad – which will head for Switzerland in July – and her efforts beneath the famous arch did her no harm. Asked about her ambitions of making the final party, Beever-Jones told ITV4: 'Someone asked me a similar question this week and I just said 'for me, I'm just focusing on the current and the now and I believe everything else will fall into place'. 'But as long as I'm giving the right people headaches and making Sarina happy, then so be it. 'But I think it was a good team performance today as well. We were really clinical in the first half. 'If I'm honest, the standard dropped a little bit in the second and we're looking to improve that so we're ready for the Euros.' Beever-Jones' treble came either side of goals from Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead as the Lionesses raced into a 5-0 half-time lead, with substitute Chloe Kelly adding a sixth, just after the hour. She said: 'I'm absolutely shattered first. Honestly, coming into this today after a busy season, I got told I was starting and I just wanted to help the team as much as I could. 'But I'm absolutely delighted right now. I can't quite believe it, if I'm honest.' Wiegman was delighted with the performance a night when her players stepped up in timely fashion. The head coach said: 'Of course, that's what we wanted. You go back to business and you want to show it on the pitch. It's an important game, we want to do well in the Nations League, we want to keep in the running to win it. 'We needed a win and it's really good to see the team showing up like this.' However when it was suggested things could not have gone much better, she added with a smile: 'There's always things to improve, of course, but it's a good score.' For Kelly, a first England goal since the 2023 World Cup finals capped a week in which she also became a Champions League winner, but one which also saw her Euro 2022-winning team-mate Mary Earps retire from international football. She said: 'What she did in an England shirt is absolutely incredible. 'She paved the way for so many goalkeepers and the future generations goalkeepers, so I'm gutted that she's retiring. But I wish her all the best for the future and hopefully we see her a lot as well.'

Ever wondered what makes a TV executive tick? This podcast spills all
Judging a podcast on its first episode is a bit like judging a footballer solely on their debut, but at least Insiders: The TV Podcast (Expectation/Hat Trick) gave us a handy yardstick. 'This podcast isn't going to be like The Rest is Entertainment,' said Jimmy Mulville at the start, instantly making listeners think of The Rest is Entertainment, Marina Hyde and Richard Osman's audio behemoth. Mulville protests too much – Insiders is rather a lot like The Rest is Entertainment, and on the evidence of this debut, it should strive to be even more so. Mulville and his co-host Peter Fincham certainly have the credentials for the gig, both being veteran TV producers with enviable CVs. Mulville's Hat Trick Productions has made everything from Father Ted and Derry Girls to Whose Line Is It Anyway and Have I Got News For You, while Fincham (who co-hosts the excellent What's Funny About… on Radio 4) has been MD of TalkBack, Controller of BBC One and Director of Television at ITV. They know what they're talking about. The podcast has a format (tip for wannabe podcasters: The Rest is Entertainment doesn't have a format), which has the pair's producer handing them envelopes containing various topics. Each subject comes to Fincham and Mulville as a surprise, meaning that all conversation is off-the-cuff. And while they have the knowledge and anecdotes to do this, the nagging feeling is that greater insight would be gained from allowing the hosts to choose each week's topics. I would also tighten the episodes – 53 minutes can feel a long time. Yet the pair have an enormous amount to give and this opener had plenty of nuggets to enjoy. I particularly enjoyed the segment on the US vs the UK, with Mulville having finally launched HIGNFY in the US after many aborted attempts. Part of the problem previously was that US execs considered the news quiz to be 'too newsy', while Mulville ran into similar problems when trying to get a US remake of Father Ted off the ground: 'Do they have to be Catholic priests?' More specificity like this, and fewer general musings on the state of the industry, will help the podcast fly (and when it settles in, I think it will). My favourite tale was about Richard Hammond pitching a show about the social history of road building to Fincham. 'I think I ended up commissioning Richard Hammond In Search of the Holy Grail. He didn't find it.'

Senators vs Capitals 4-5: Washington ends 3-game skid thanks to Wilson
Tom Wilson delivered a standout performance as the Washington Capitals ended their season-worst three-game losing streak with a 5-4 shootout victory over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night. Wilson fought Brady Tkachuk late in the first period, scored on the power play in the second, and assisted on Martin Fehervary's third-period goal, completing a Gordie Howe Hat Trick. Fehervary's goal gave Washington a late lead, but Tkachuk equalized with a 6-on-4 goal with just over a minute left in regulation. The Capitals survived a late scare after killing their seventh minor penalty in overtime following a too-many-men call. Dylan Strome netted the only goal of the shootout, securing two crucial points for the Eastern Conference leaders, who had earlier let a 3-0 lead slip away. Pierre-Luc Dubois tallied a goal and two assists for Washington, while Connor McMichael also found the net. Logan Thompson made 33 saves and was flawless in the shootout, earning his 26th win of the season. Alex Ovechkin remains 10 goals shy of tying the NHL's career scoring record. Shane Pinto led Ottawa with two goals, while Claude Giroux also scored. Linus Ullmark stopped 37 shots in a losing effort. Tim Stützle extended his career-best point streak to 12 games with two assists. The Senators visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, while the Capitals face the New York Rangers the same night.
