Brass bands to take over Devon for two-day event
A two-day event for brass bands is set to return to Devon across the weekend. The event - called Bandamonium - will see 23 bands perform five concerts each in ten different locations across the will also be the Massed Bands Concert at 20:30 BST on Saturday in Hatherleigh Market, when 23 bands and more than 500 players will play the 4th year of the festival, organisers are hopeful "hundreds" of people will attend the free show. Tim Williams, Founder and Chair of Trustees for Bandamonium, said it was a "feel-good weekend of world-class brass"."Brass just sounds magical here - it's part of our heritage and perfect for playing outdoors across the Devon hills," he said. "We're expecting hundreds with the sun out, with both brass fans and first-timers coming along."He added: "It's not every day you get to hear some of the UK's best brass bands without leaving your hometown."The full line-up will be available on the event's website.

Police hunt thieves as gold and silver bars stolen in Hatherleigh
Police are investigating after thieves reportedly stole several gold and silver bars worth thousands from a property in burglary in Hatherleigh is believed to have taken place between 12 June and 16 June and involved a pair of 1kg silver bars - the current approximate street value of which is £883 each. Seven gold bars of various sizes were also taken and 20 gold sovereign coins in a small purple zip-up have urged people to be on the look out for anyone attempting to sell any of these items at pawn shops, auctioneers or jewellers in the area. Anyone with information or doorbell footage should contact Devon and Cornwall Police.
