Shafter PD accepting applications for volunteer cadet program
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) –The Shafter Police Department is now accepting applications for a volunteer police cadet program for individuals ages 18-20.
Other requirements include having a class C driver's license, attending a college or university with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and the ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently.

Some of the duties in the program include:
Participate in a structured training program covering law enforcement principles, procedures, and techniques.
Attend training sessions and workshops on topics such as criminal law, traffic enforcement, first aid, and emergency response.
Assist with traffic control, crowd management, and other non-enforcement tasks as directed; file traffic citations.
Conduct routine patrols and report any suspicious activities.
