West Haven man, juvenile arrested after stolen vehicle crash on I-95 in Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) — State police say a juvenile and a West Haven man were arrested Tuesday after fleeing a crash on Interstate 95 involving a stolen vehicle. Troopers were dispatched to the crash in the area of Exit 16 on the northbound side of I-95 around 7:14 a.m. While responding, they learned the occupants of one vehicle fled the scene on foot. 18-year-old arrested on firearm charges in Norwalk Norwalk and Westport officers also responded to the scene, creating a perimeter in the immediate area. Not long after, two people matching the description of the suspects were detained. State police said they determined the vehicle involved in the crash- a 2019 BMX X6- was reported stolen from the town of Bridgewater. Authorities also found a 2021 Audi S5 stolen from Greenwich that was left abandoned on the Exit 17 off ramp. State police said the vehicle's owner didn't realize it was stolen until police called. State police believe a total of five people fled on foot from both stolen vehicles. Two have been apprehended as of Wednesday afternoon. Wegmans announces opening date for new Norwalk store Both the juvenile male and 18-year-old Jeremiah Villacis of West Haven were charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and interfering with an officer/resisting. The juvenile was released from custody on a promise to appear and Villacis was released on a $50,000 bond. The juvenile is scheduled to appear at New Haven Juvenile Court on Feb. 14 and Villacis is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 4.
